Zeno's Paradox
March 09, 2004 - Pain in the Neck

As I got up this morning to go through my morning routine - check e-mail, update Quicken, etc. -- I somehow managed to screw up my neck. As I was stretching, I turned my head to the side and the next think I know, I was hurting. I don't know what's happening, but I suspect that I've managed to pinch a nerve. I feel fine when I'm in a normal position, but some turning of my head generates a quick sharp pain. Ergh. I'm planning on doing things as normal and hoping that this goes away, but I'll schedule a doctor's appointment if this persists.

In other news, I've started reading a recently written history on the knights Templar by Piers Paul Read. I finished the first part last night, which was a quick history from Abraham to Rome to the fall of Rome to the rise of Islam to the crusades. I haven't gotten to any Templar-specific history yet, but the book's been a smooth and informative read so far.

I've also been neglecting my training for the eight kilometer race that will be here in less than two weeks. Perhaps it's time to make the realization that I'll never be in as good shape as I was in high school. I've found that I don't really seem to have the interest in it anymore. And without interest, it's quite hard to motivate oneself. However, I have been getting increasingly excited about getting the Saturday frisbee games up and going again. I'm thinking that I may aim for a start date in April and run the games from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. I always had fun doing that and managed to get a decent workout from the experience.

Time to hop into the shower. Perhaps hot water will relax the neck muscles enough to stop the hurting.
