Zeno's Paradox
October 27, 2003 - 10.2 v. 10.3

I'm running a week-long usability test to see if MacOS X 10.3 is all that much better than MacOS X 10.2. The test will be conducted by using 10.3 on my home machine (1.25 GHz / 1024 MB RAM) and 10.2 on my work machine (2x500 MHz / 2048 MB RAM). The determining factor will be whether I feel more productive working on one or the other. Thus far, I have noticed no difference.

I just love Panther. Installed on Saturday, now is Tuesday.
Great things about Panther, from my point of view:
- F9 (Expose in general)
- Mail.app supporting threads
- Finder makes me work faster after a short transition period
- hardly anything compares to the new Preview. Being able to search and hightlight text within a pdf was the main reason for my quick switch
- the boot process is about the same on my iBook 600 and the G4 (to be fair, the G4 is running 10.3 Server)
- fast user switching is a real nice thing if your fiancee comes over for a quick mail check and you're in the middle of ripping a DVD

Oh yes, on a 733MHz G4 with 768 Megs and plenty of HD space.
