Zeno's Paradox
September 08, 2003 - How NOT to Structure a Blog

John Edwards should be recognized for his blog, but it is a poor one at that. There are no RSS feeds for updates and the comments section is far too difficult to navigate -- they should either support a decent threaded view or leave it flat. Furthermore, the amount of space that is wasted by bubbly boxes is criminal. I tried reading through a few conversations and I've found it exceedingly frustrating. I try to keep my political views on aetherial.nu, but this site show how poorly the campaign understands the medium. If there were a PerversionTracker for blogs, this would be my submission.

I think the term "blog" has become diluted. Not every announcement forum with a comments section is a "weblog", and this one looks more like a news board with feedback (like El Reg or ZDNet) than a personal web log.

Not that feedback isn't important, I've ranted about that in the past on my IO page ( http://scarydevil.com/~peter/io/ ), and he's to be congratulated for joining the Crazy Yenta Gossip Line and allowing feedback to his campaign announcements, but calling it a blog is muddying the waters.
