Zeno's Paradox
December 13, 2003 - Anybody But Bush (ABB)

I'm about half way through the first pass of writing for my play. I'm hoping to be finished with Act Two before I fly out to New Jersey with Holly this evening. That said, here's another recommendation to hold you over until I start blogging regularly again.

This recommendation is political. For the 2004 presidential election, I am recommending the amorphous challenger to the current incumbent, "Anybody But Bush" (ABB).

The motivating reasons for this nominee is not anything spectacular that ABB has done, rather it's all the good reasons that Bush has given us to vote ABB in the next election:

Halliburton

Valerie Plame

Lack of vigorous prosecution of Enron executives

John Ashcroft

George Clinton arrested for drugs, but Rush Limbaugh runs free.

Michael Powell and the FCC becoming the shill for large media interests.

Deficit spending and unbalanced budgets

Pandering to the AARP and drug companies with the prescription drug benefit.

Bush's misunderstanding of the term "free trade".

I could go on and on and on about Bush. Needless to say, the person most likely to get him out of office will be the person receiving my vote. I can't say if that'll be Dean, Clark, or whoever, but this election, I recommend Anybody But Bush.

[Update: 12/18/03] In all fairness, I'm extremely ecstatic that we have captured Saddam Hussein. Bush and company deserve kudos for that. While I'm reassessing my admittedly critical take on the "War on Terror", my criticisms of his handling of domestic situations and the lack of transparency in his administration will have me still voting for the opposition in 2004.
