Zeno's Paradox
September 08, 2003 - Homework

I was plugging away at implementing METS on Oyez (if you have to know, visit aetherial.net) when I received a phone call. On the other end was a professor telling me that I had missed my first playwriting class... Damn screwy calendars.

Apparently the continuing studies calendar runs differently than the regular NWU calendar, and the first meeting was Saturday. I asked what I had missed (this is a three hour a week course) and the instructor said something about Aristotle and told me he would send me a syllabus and the first week's reading and assignment via e-mail.

The week's reading is "A Streetcar Named Desire" and the assignment is to write a two to three page mini-scene about an awkward guy trying to confess his feelings to a pretty girl. I don't have my angle yet, but I'm sure something will come to me. It's not like I'm lacking in the awkward moments section of my personal biography.

In any case, I'm pumped. If anything it gives me an excuse and motivator to start reading some plays.

In other news, I cribbed a bit from Spoons' list of complaints of Bush from conservatives and turned it into a short article on Watchblog. There are currently no comments there, but I'm hoping for some real discussion instead of the usual lefty circle-jerk about how bad Bush is, with Pete stirring them up. If the editors and commentators on Watchblog are typical, I'm not surprised that the Democrats are doing as badly as they are. It's frustrating, I would just like to throttle people commenting there -- "Dammit I know you don't like Bush, but what are you doing about it?!?" Maybe I'm guilty of the same -- I continue to write and publish there. Maybe I should go out and join a Dean meetup and boost his numbers. Except I don't know if I really like Dean or any of the other candidates... :-P

Anyways, I should get back to work.
