Zeno's Paradox
July 22, 2003 - Jetlag Clock Kookiness

It's 3:30 AM in the USA, but 9:30 AM in Scotland. Needless to say, despite my best efforts, I'm suffering through readjustment. Well, suffering is not the proper term at the moment -- though it will be sometime tomorrow...

If I were a good person, I would be posting the beautiful pictures I took in Scotland. However, I'm not going to do that tonight. In the next few days, they should be up though.

One thing that I wanted to bring people's attention to is the MacOS X program, iComic. I've only been using the program for a month or so, and I've fallen in love with it. Basically it is a dedicated application for reading comics on the web. It's a small application with a straightforward interface. It includes a fairly straightforward interface for reading comics and going back and forth as they are meant to be viewed. When starting, it goes out to the web and checks for the most recent strips. It's a great application.

One weak spot is that it doesn't cover many of the strips that I like to read. However, it has a great plugin architecture, so I've started writing plugins for comics that are not yet covered. The first (and only) plugin that I've written allows you to view 8-bit Theatre in full iComic glory. It can be downloaded here as a MacOS X disk image. After downloading and mounting the file, copy the .comic file inside to the Library/iComic/Plugins folder within your local home directory. (You did already install iComic, right?) When you start up iComic the next time, you should be able to subscribe to 8-bit Theatre. If there are any problems with this plugin, post below. It's been working very well for me so far.

(iComic was discovered via Useful Mac. Also kudos to the 8-bit Theatre folks for writing a great comic strip.)
