Zeno's Paradox
January 02, 2003 - 2003

This is the first entry of the new year. Yowza.

Well, since I'm waiting for my old computer to spider the new computer at work, I have a bit of time to kill. Welcome to the first installment of 2003.

2003 was kicked off with dinner, "Bust-A-Move 99", some TV (I think -- details hazy...), and two bottles of sparkling white wine and a bottle of Merlot. I arrived earlier that day after having finished up a twenty-four hour train ride from Raton, NM to Chicago. The train ride was pretty pleasant and I look forward to riding it more often. While on the train, I managed to finish disc one (of three) of "Malcolm in the Middle", finish up reading "Black House", and listen to about five hours of "eBoys" (ten hours total). I probably spent most of the time on the observation deck looking out the windows.

An aside -- trains rule. The one that I was on had two stories and plenty of things to keep you busy. There was an (overpriced) cafe, a dining car, and an observation deck. Never mind that only kiddie movies like ET and Stuart Little were playing on the TVs, it was still cool. I liked that I could walk where I wanted and it wasn't as cramped as airplanes. Furthermore, the long duration was only annoying at the end as I was anxious to get in. Before that, it was like I was in my own self-contained world and there was no stress to worry about anything else.

New Year's Day was spent with Holly recovering from the mutual blasting that we had both engaged in the evening before. I napped while she watched "The Twilight Zone" and we watched the rest of the Malcolm DVDs and just putzed around. It was a slow day that went pretty fast. I enjoyed it, though I think that I still have a bit of alcohol in my system.

I came into work today to get reacquainted with the place. I've put a hundred more transcripts online for Oyez, and fixed some bugs. I'll be heading home soon to do some cleaning and general life-organizing things. I'm pumped that iCal and iSync have been updated. I'll be playing with those tonight.

Sometime before the market closed, I finally decided to dump the GSOF stock that I was holding. I figured that the fluctuations were getting to be a bit too much for me, so I managed to sell at $13.13 a share. The final close was $13.25, but then again, I purchased the shares at $13.75 and they split two for one. So I'm reasonably ahead for the venture and I'll plow the cash into an index fund of some sort. I'm looking into the Russell 2000 versus the S&P 500. I'll do some research tonight and see which is better for my situation.

Okay, the spidering is wrapping up. Back to work...
