Zeno's Paradox
November 14, 2002 - Thursday, the Sequel

Well, the database work did not get done. However, I have a good reason why.

But first a bit of back story. After my previous entry, I had the 10:00 meeting with a group of people from a company called Luminas about the Oyez project. Luminas is highly Cocoon-oriented with respect to their development efforts. I didn't know that among the people we'd be meeting would include the original author of the Cocoon framework. Of course they were very excited about us using Cocoon in Oyez. They had a few good suggestions about things that I've been mulling over in my testing and kicking of the tires of Oyez v. 4. Basically the most exciting thing is that I'll be able to replace Perl-based CGIs with Cocoon XSP files that will make the site more maintainable and quite a bit simpler. My goal is to eliminate Perl completely from Oyez 4 and keep everything in Java-land.

So, we met with the Luminas folks from ten until around one in the afternoon. I intended to get back and work on the database then, but I got sidetracked by a series of conversations and then the power went off. After waiting around a bit and no power coming on, I decided to go home. After going home, I took a nap and then ended up here writing this entry. Nothing too exciting...

On another note, if you're the "BeevisAndButthead" character who IM'ed me earlier on, I still have no idea who you are and lost your identity as the power went off. If you have something important to IM me, please try again.
