Darleen and Nicole at the start of a bird walk with Mark Holmgren
Mark Holmgrem gave a group of COPR volunteers a wonderful bird walk. Mark adds great insights into what is involved with monitoring wildlife at Coal Oil Point Reserve. He has been helping over the years with bird and animal lists for COPR.

Coal Oil Point Reserve Pond, we tested an hypotheses on what provided more bird diversity, the slough or the pond. It is thought that the more stable water chemistry and height provides better habitat for birds. We counted one more bird species around the pond than around the slough.
