we are so out of here..

Palm Springs is absolutely beautiful!  We can see why people have flocked to this area since the Hollywood glory days... the mountains are amazing... The city itself is an oasis in the middle of very arid country.  We took a trip up the Palm Springs Tram, where we had some spectacular views...

At the top of the mountain, you could see all of the city... it was very evident that if people didn't put a lot of effort into keeping Palm Springs beautiful, the desert would soon reclaim it.

The mountains are part of the California State Parks, and there are several campgrounds and hiking trails thru the woods.  At 8000+ feet, it was much cooler, ~45 degrees.  While the pic below may look like we are enjoying a peaceful moment, in reality we're waiting for our lungs to catch up to us...

We had a very tasty dinner at the restaurant on top of the mountain, and headed back down at sunset... what a great day!

We enjoyed just toodling around Palm Springs for the next several days.  The RV is great, we've not had a single problem with it, so our love affair of being mobile has been reborn!

On a downer note, while we were out exploring the city on Thursday, a young man rear-ended us while we were stopped at a red light.  Nothing major, just a little bump.  However, he wouldn't stop so we could exchange info... so we followed him!  He was driving very erratically, so we called the police... he must have seen Charlie with the phone to his ear because he took off!  We stuck with him up to the point of him flying thru a red light and almost clobbering two other cars.  Fortunately, the police had showed up by then and pulled him over!  The police dispatcher requested we pull in and talk to the officers, so we did.  Turns out he was taking some sort of prescription narcotic, and they took him in for DUI... such a shame...
