A Green Roof For Our Cob Shed

There are many steps to building a green roof. Now you can watch how we put ours up. See more: www.cityfarmer.org/cob.html

Don's door in place. Welcome Hobbits.
Mat applies Linseed Oil to rafters.
Rafters in place. Sculpting in progress.
Shawna works oyster shells into the wall.
Metal sheeting put down first, then plywood.
A layer of roofing membrane goes on top of the wood.
Professional roofer, Terry Kellogg, applies second membrane layer.
And next a "flashing membrane".
The fascia frames the edge of the roof.
Terry applies "Rockwall", the final roofing layer.
The roof seen from above.
Josh and John hang chains for downspouts.
Pumice for soil drainage goes into buckets.
One by one the buckets are hoisted up onto the roof.
John levels the pumice with a rake.
He next spreads landscape fabric over it.
Lightweight "Verdir Systems" soil goes up next.
The chosen plants arrive by truck.
Don hands John the plants.
