Bikini atoll 5 decades after 46 megatons of bombs in 1954 [ "Bravo", "Romeo", "Union" and "Yankee (II)" ] |
|
Wild West Weather Weapons 1954 March 1 - hydrogen bomb "Bravo" triggered international debate and dialogue. The relentless demonstration of ordinary people all over the world opposing and resisting this evil led to US moratorium on atmospheric nuclear testing and Limited Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. We always get to the truth too late. "Bravo" still haunts us. After half a century we behave as if we were ignorant of the impact, extent and effects of radiation that is contaminating our world, especially the 357,000 square miles of Micronesia. People evacuated from Bikini Atoll now live as if in exile or in detention not knowing when they can safely return. American racism and colonialism hangs over Marshall Islands. We don't yet know definitively "the experiment" on the sea-floor in our region. Brave investigators will soon blow the whistle! |
