Introducing Scriptures.app

When I started this little project it was to scratch an itch. I bought an iPhone and wanted to read the scriptures while commuting to work on the train or if I was stuck waiting around somewhere. I purchased the domain "mountainmighty.com" and used the subdomain "tall.mountainmighty.com" because my oldest son named our new puppy "Tall Mountain Mighty" when he was 3 and I love that name, so I used it.

Before I knew it, people were actually using Scriptures.app, mentioning it on podcasts, calling me with questions, and some big fish were interested in potentially featuring it on their site (if it pans out I'll link to it). I figured it was time to break down and get something that stuck. So, without further ado, I would like you to introduce scripturesapp.com to your bookmarks.

I'm going to keep the old domains around, but in a year they'll expire and I'm not going to renew them. This is your ultra advance warning.

Enjoy.

Update: Community Annotations

Since I have the database of bookmarks and annotations I was able to see the really great scriptures that were being saved. I thought that people might be interested in reading what others find important enough to save so I created the "Community Annotations" feature. Click it on the home page and check it out. The community annotations are ordered by newest annotations in descending order so check back often and you'll see the newest. Click the verse number to save the ones you like to your annotations.

* Added "Community Annotations" section. View scriptures that others are annotating.

Update: Tagging Annotations

I've added tagging for annotations by popular request. Now you can organize your annotations by tags and either view them from the "Tags" menu or set your Account preference to view all annotations by tags. To do so, go to Account from the home page and toggle the "View Annotations By" switch to "Tags". Click Save and then whenever you click the red bookmark at the top right you'll see your annotation tags. Click a tag and see the annotations for that tag.

* Added: Tagging for Annotations
* Added: Preferences to View Annotations by Tag

Update: Tag Cloud, Popular Bookmarks

Now that the Scriptures is on the Apple iPhone / iPod application directory, we've doubled our user base. The reason that is good news is that there are more people annotating their scriptures and sharing tags, etc with the community. I've added a couple new features to further expose the annotated / tagged scriptures. Enjoy!

* Added: Tag Cloud
* Added: Most Bookmarked Feature
* Fixed: Search Results are now annotatable
