After spending several months seeking the Lord, Brian
Rutledge says God gave him the answer he sought:
latte. Rutledge's question: Did God prefer him to
have a latte or cappuccino in the morning? "I believe
God is interested in the minutiae of my life," he
says. "He knows every hair on my head; surely he has
ideas about my actions throughout the day."

We celebrated Emily's graduation today. As a way of
honoring the (homeschooled) graduates, each of the
parents wrote a letter of tribute that was read

A keeper from James Ryle. . .
"Healthy things grow. Growing things change. Change
challenges us. Challenges cause us to trust God.
Trust leads to obedience. Obedience makes us healthy.
And healthy things grow."

A friend emailed me the link to an incredible video
clip (click on the picture). What a powerful reminder
that our God indeed reigns!
It's from the
People's Church in Franklin,
TN. The video is about 8 minutes long. Enjoy!

Twas the night before Jesus came and all through the
house
Not a creature was praying, not one in the house.
Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care
In hopes that Jesus would not come there.

How would you describe God? To some He is like a
doting grandpa who just winks and grins and sloughs
off our transgressions. But on the other end of the
spectrum, there are many who fearfully envision Him
as a stern, unrelenting authority figure just waiting
pounce and to punish if we get out of line. To others
still, He is simply the seldom thought about "old man
upstairs." It's almost like there are as many views
of God as their are people. Why?

I love our worship celebrations on Sunday! We have
been so blessed with a truly gifted worship team that
sincerely desires to worship God. One of the songs we
sang yesterday was You Are So Good To Me.
There's a line in that song that says, "You heal my
broken heart." We typically associate a broken heart
with a breakup of some kind (i.e. getting dumped by a
boyfriend/girlfriend, etc.), but while we were
singing, the Lord brought the words of the Psalmist
to mind: "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart, O God, You will not
despise." (Ps. 51:17)

I am currently reading
The Papa Prayer by Larry Crabb. Good read. . .
very good read. In fact, it's one of the best books
I've ever read on the subject of prayer. The premise
of the book is that the primary purpose of prayer is
relationship –– of truly getting to know God and
deepening our relationship with Him. I thought the
following paragraph was especially good and worth
passing along:
