"Do not hire a man who does your work for money, but
him who does it for love of it." Henry David Thoreau

Check out Kirk Cameron's recent blog for another
slant on how "another gospel" is really a recipe for
disaster.
Sin: An Honest Mistake?

"I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting
the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are
turning to a different gospel — which is really no
gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you
into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel
of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven
should preach a gospel other than the one we preached
to you, let him be eternally condemned!" (Galatians
1:6-8)

Today our local paper carried an editorial by Cokie
Roberts and Steven Roberts which attempted to vilify
President Bush for vetoing a bill that would have
forced an expansion of the President's policy on
federal funding of embryonic stem cell research. They
maintain that Bush "takes a theological view, not a
scientific one," and contend that his position is a
"tragic mistake, and exercise in willful ignorance,
not strong leadership."

I've had a couple of people ask me what I think about
the
Emergent Church. The Calvary
Chapel fellowship of churches recently released
a public statement that I thought was worth
passing along. I appreciate much about Calvary
Chapel, especially their commitment to the Word
of God. My wife and I were able to attend one of
their pastor's conferences a couple of years ago
and it was deeply enriching for us both. The
following statement was released to 1,400
Calvary pastors and addresses some concerns
about the Emergent Church.

Our civilized faith demands caviar and escargot; our
barbaric faith accepts that we might have to eat fish
eggs and snails. We look to Jesus not to fulfill our
shallow longings or to provide for us creature
comforts. We look to Him to lead us where He needs us
most and where we can accomplish the most good.

Our mission team had a great week serving the
community of Chester, PA last week. If you prayed for
them while they were gone –– thank you! I am very
proud of each of them. They worked hard and were a
huge source of encouragement to the World Impact
missionaries who are serving in Chester.

A couple in our church will celebrate 30 years of
marriage this coming Monday. Their children threw
them a surprise anniversary party. Flash back to the
early 70's! We all retro-dressed and had a blast!

In writing to young Pastor Timothy, Paul said "Do
your best to present yourself to God as one approved,
a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who
correctly handles the word of truth." (II Tim. 2:15)
