More racing heritage in the 1979 and 1980 Spirit AMX models:

Irv Hoerr and his team (Peoria, IL) racing a 1979 AMC Spirit at the famous Road America Trans-Am Championship.
This is the longest racecourse in North America, four miles of turns and straightaways near Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
It tests the skills of the world's best amateur and professional drivers, as well as the strength of their cars.

This was a 6 cylinder car and racing series. It was at the end of the series Amos Johnson and Dennis Shaw had dominated for quite some time. Yes, Jeff Puras and the Team AMX guys have the car.
I thought I sent them some contact information for Irv Heorr, some time ago, as he still runs a racing business out of his old shop. I was the one who organized the original shop tour for AMC club members in 1980 or so.
Thanks, Larry R. Daum

That car lives in my garage and I have vintage raced it for a few years. I wish I did have a full account of the car's full racing history!
