AMC and the Marlin

Marlin in the Media

This is a Marlin saved from a West Virginia junkyard! According to the owner of the salvage operation, the car was driven to the yard many years ago. However, he thought it was too good to crush and kept it. Because my mother's car was undergoing a restoration, the opportunity to acquire a second Marlin was too good to resist. It could it provide spare parts, as well as become a potential classic AMC to refurbish in the future. This big car has a 343 cid 4-barrel V-8 engine with a factory emissions certified sticker (California?), automatic transmission with floor shift, power steering, power disk brakes, wood rimed sports steering wheel on a tilt column, and AM radio. It has the dealer installed "American Air" air conditioning. It was factory finished in white, but the car was repainted red some time ago.

The interior has bucket seats in black fabric. However, missing are the center console and its armrest, front brake calipers, A/C compressor, timing chain cover -- among many other things. If I ever find the some "spare" money, I would like to resurrect this unique find into a mild customized Marlin!

40 years old, yet the rear quarters (shown from the trunk) are solid!
