I like this artist's work... There's quite a nice
visual narrative to it. The photographer, Adam
Makarenko.

An interesting article.

I am reading this article on American Photo, and
especially interested in the article about portraits
for obvious reasons. There are some quotes that have
made me think a little bit. It is an article on Martin
Schoeller, the winner on this year's "Images of the
Year 2007- Portrait/ Wedding." The quote most
interesting to me is that it states that, " Martin
Schoeller's images cross that boundary, and the result
is often uncomfortable, if not for the subject, then
certainly for viewers accustomed to seeing portraits
that flatter and hide as much as they reveal."
Why is that, that viewers are accustomed to seeing portraits that flatter? Is it us, the photographers that really intend to do this? Or is the viewers actually not paying any attention to the photo??? Hmm... Pondering right now a little bit... I hope my own photos don't flatter any of my subjects.
But the images by Martin Schoeller, is quite spectacular, and I do see my work having some similarities to his... Interesting.

Ok... being reading up, on the quote that will shape my
MFA thesis... Now I'm going to a crossroads... Now I
find that the recent quote I got from Anais Nin, is
being debated about... That she wasn't the first to
write this line... Now I have another source.
"We do not see things as they are, but as we are ourselves."~Henry M. Tomlinson (1873-1958), English novelist, Out of Soundings, ch. 10 (1931)
Website of the debate here!
Hmm... What do I do??? Who do I accredit the quote to? Confusing!!!!
