Burnout Revenge Gamer Pics

I don't usually mind microtransactions when it comes to Xbox Live on 360. I really don't. But I do mind this one. A couple weeks ago, EA put up two Gamer Pictures for Burnout Revenge. I bought them blind (there was no preview available, but to answer your question yes I do have "sucker" written on my forehead). And they suck...hard. Take a look:

Good lord those are terrible, right? A big red B and a nondescript line of flames? Gee, THANKS EA.

Fast-forward to today, when EA introduces some wicked-sweet Burnout Gamer Pics. 160 points each for two groups of TEN icons. I'd like to buy them, I would. But I feel burned by buying the lame-o ones two weeks ago. My buyer's remorse knows no bounds. Look at these awesome icons:

I'd like to use one of these as my gamer pic eventually. But the thing I don't get is why ALL of these have to be bought on the XBL Marketplace. Why didn't two or three of them come on the game disc I paid $60 for? Shouldn't I get something that promotes the fact that I'm playing your game on Live? WTF -- not everything has to be a microtransaction, does it?
