Lines are creatures; they are born somewhere, go to somewhere else, and swallowed by the canvas. The painter has two brushes with pliant hairs and the black contour she draws, cuts something off from nothing. We are unable to erase the boundary but it starts to blur as time goes by. Soon, the white will flood and cover what she envisioned. This work was commissioned by Yoshiko Shibuya and premiered on Oct.28.2006. |
