Chikashi Miyama received his BA(2002) and MA(2004) from the Sonology Department, Kunitachi College of Music, Tokyo, Japan and Nachdiplom(2007) from Elektronisches studio, Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel, Basel, Switzerland. He is currently attending the State University of New York at Buffalo for his ph.D. He has studied under T.Rai, C.Lippe, E.Ona, and G.F.Haas. His electroacoustic compositions and multimedia works have been selected for permeances by various international festivals, such as the International Computer Music Conference 2004 (Miami, USA), 2005 (Barcelona, Spain), 2006 (New Orleans, USA), 2007 (Copenhagen, Denmark) and 2008 (Belfast, UK), Nime 2008 (Geneva, Italy) and 2009 (Pittsburgh, USA), June in Buffalo '01 (New York, USA) , Mix '02 (Arfus, Denmark), Musica Viva '03 (Coimbra, Portugal), Next generation '05 (Karlsruhe, Germany), Scrime 2007 (Bordeaux, France), dBâle (Basel, Switzerland). Re:New 2008 (Copenhagen, Denmark), Lica-Mantis (Lancaster, England), NWEAMO 2008 (New York, USA) , SPARK 2008 (Minnesota, USA), NYCEMF 2009 (New York, USA), Super Collider symposium 2009 (Connecticut, USA), and Pdcon '09 (San Paulo, Brasil). Since 2005, he has been performing as a laptop musician, employing his original sensor devices and involving himself in several media-art activities, such as Dorkbot, Shift-Festival, and SGMK workshops. His papers about realtime visual processing software DIPS have been accepted by ICMC 2002 and 2007 and Agora Resonance 2003 and 2006 at IRCAM (Pris, France). .His composition have received honorable mention in the Residence Prize section of the 30th International Electroacoustic Music Competition Bourges. Several works of him are published, including the Computer Music Journal Vol.28 DVD by MIT press and the ICMC 2005 official CD. |
