Get Addressbook.app contacts with more data (addresses!) to your Sony Ericsson K700i

The current version of iSync doesn't sync Addressbook.app contacts with all of Addressbook's data, such as physical, email and homepage addresses. Not, at least, as far as I can tell at the time of this post. There's a way around it, and it's fairly easy, but you've got to do it yourself. Hopefully, Apple will fix this with an iSync update.

Open Addressbook.app and review contacts. Make sure you have all the data fields you need populated. Next, open Addressbook's preferences and select the vCard 2.1 format as below:

Next select all (+A) of your contacts in Addressbook.app. Once all contacts are highlighted, click-and-drag them to your Desktop. This will create one vCard (3.0 by default unless you change it per above).

Now make sure the new vCard (there will only be one card regardless of how many contacts in your Addressbook) is on the Desktop. Then open Bluetooth File Exchange app (if you've got the Bluetooth icon in your Apple Menubar-as seen below-then go there and select "Send File," of course). The BFE app is in your Utilities folder. Now choose "Send File" from the File menu and locate the vCard you just created on your Desktop.

Once your Mac has located your K700i, send the file from your Mac then accept the Vcard on your K700i.

Notes: Addressbook.app sends the file exactly as it's entered into the app That's to say that if you enter a company and that contact has no data in the Name field (say you keep your local pissa place in your addressbook but you don't have a contact person's name, when it's sent to the K700i the entry will be listed as "No Name." You can fix this a number of ways, but I've found it's easiest to duplicate the company's name in both the Company Field and the Name Field.

This process should get a bit more info to your K700i than iSync. Let me know if you have different results.

Don't forget How to Buy a Mac.
