After today's 24-inch iMac announcement, I swung by Apple's refurbished Mac page (link below) to see where Apple priced older iMacs. I was a little surprised by what I found.

For example, the previous 20-inch 2GHz Core Duo Intel iMac is priced at $1199, but the 20-inch 2GHz PPC G5 iMac is priced at $1249. Again, the banner link to Apple's refurbished page appears below.

Apple has a strict method through which refurbished models are priced. It's based on the original price of that particular Mac. The G5 iMac shipped for a $100 more than the Intel iMac, but I still find it interesting that the G5 gets a premium.


