WalMart PO'ed at Apple over movies. Good.

I like this a lot. The worlds largest retailer is pissed off at one of the worlds smallest computer makers because it (Apple) might edge into their movie sale business. Movie business should really read "family-safe movie business."

The best part is that WalMart is using its substantial clout to threaten DVD companies that also want to sell their movies through iTunes. Sell through the ITMS? Fine, sell there but not at Walmart.

I suppose if I were WalMart I'd think like that too. But the future is moving away from DVDs, and I think Hollywood knows this. The edge has to go to business models like the forthcoming ITMS.

Don't forget How to Buy a Mac.
