Factory Refurbished Mac mini's



Apple's finally offering factory refurbished Mac mini 1.25Ghz and 1.42Ghz models for $449 and $529 respectively. That's about a 10% savings over retail.

Factory refurbished Apple products ship with one-year of AppleCare. Extended AppleCare is available for $149, which extends the warranty to three-years.

Keep in mind that Apple charges sales tax on orders from their online Apple Store, so the refurbished discount is basically a wash for most shoppers.

With that in mind, in this instance I would recommend a Mac min from a retailer that doesn't charge sales tax. Amazon, for example, offers the following prices on the current Mac mini models with free shipping and no sales tax:

Mac mini 1.25 combo: $479
Mac mini 1.42 combo: $549

Pretty easy decision.
