Progenitor Armor and Weapons

(Version 1.00 - Last Modified: 02/18/2006)

Introduction

Like the Human colonists that crashed on Chiron, the Progenitors had little to work with when they first arrived, but the Progenitors had much more advanced technology then the Humans before the crash, causing them to be simultaneously more advanced then the Humans in some areas and lagging behind in others. The Progenitors have more advanced armor and weapons then any of the the Human factions, which is a huge advantage, but the Progenitors do not yet have the technology to build most of the high technology they are accustomed to using. For example, all normal Progenitor communities are managed by a highly advanced central computer, but the Progenitors on Chiron do not know how to build one and they lack the knowledge to build the more rudimentary computers the Humans deploy, so only the original crash sites where the Progenitor ships are located have a central computer to manage the community. This has caused a large amount of chaos in the expansion cities and outposts the Progenitors have built in their claimed territory, but does not prevent them from posing a huge danger to the Human colonists.

Resonance Armor

Centuries ago, the Progenitors developed an ultra-hard ceramic material that still forms the basis for their armor, from personal body armor to tanks to space ships. The armor is highly resistant to normal damage, taking only half damage from a non-resonance weapon, while being extremely light and flexible. Throughout the years, nearly all Progenitor factions have deployed armor identical to the ones described below, with only superficial stylistic differences.

Light Resonance Armor

Light Resonance Armor was developed for private civilian use, police forces, and lightly armor scouting units. The armor offers amazing mobility, but little protection against resonance weapons. This is the standard issue armor for police forces among the Progenitors.

Medium Resonance Armor

The Medium Resonance Armor is standard issue for the Progenitor military forces, with the exception of the ground infantry, which is issued even heavier armor. While more cumbersome then the Light Res-Armor, the Medium Res-Armor is still exceptionally flexible giving its protective capabilities.

Heavy Resonance Armor

The heaviest of the normal resonance armor, the Heavy Res-Armor is issued only to the ground infantry in the Progenitor armies. Quite bulky compared to even the Medium Res-Armor, the Heavy Res-Armor offers amazing protection for soldiers entering into harms way.

Resonance Exo-Skeleton

While most soldiers get regular resonance armor, the elite Legionnaires gets exo-skeleton armor that is even more powerful and has stronger armor without being more cumbersome. Unfortunately, the exo-skeleton is much more expensive to produce, so it is almost never given to those outside of the military's elite special forces.

Resonance Weapons

While the Progenitors have lost a great deal of their technology since crashing on Chiron six decades ago, they still maintain the ability to produce their weapons. Progenitor weapons, like the armor has not changed for centuries, aside from stylistic differences introduced by the various factions that have come and gone in that time. The weapons deal damage by generating a highly focused resonance wave that can punch through even the hardest steel. The resonance weapons also have a disorientating effect on living creatures and are especially attuned to damaging the native life forms on Chrion, inflicting triple damage with each hit. Each time any living creature is hit by a resonance weapon, the target must make a save vs. pain (base save for Pain is 14 and gains a bonus from PE attribute) or suffer a penalty of -1 to all combat rolls for one melee round. This penalty is cumulative each time the target is hit by a resonance weapon. A target wearing anything heavier than exo-skeleton armor is immune to this disorientating effect.

Resonance Blast Gun

The blast gun is the standard sidearm for the Progenitor military and the only weapon issued to the Progenitor police forces and is the only weapon commonly available to civilians. Not especially easy to conceal, the blast cannon has excellent stopping power, but it is limited to single shots only, so it cannot produce the same cover of fire as a Human pistol.

Resonance Blast Rifle

Similar to the blast pistol, the Resonance Blast Rifle is a single shot weapon, but what it lacks in automatic fire, it makes up for in stopping power with each shot. Unfortunately, the Progenitors are not as advanced as they would like to think, as the newest Chaos Laser weapons from the University of Planet has a longer range than these weapons. This is the standard rifle issued to the Progenitor military forces.

Resonance Blast Cannon

The most powerful of the regular resonance weapons, the Progenitors would like to think that the Resonance Blast Cannon is the most powerful hand-held weapon on Chiron, but again it falls short compared to the Chaos Laser weapons from the University of Planet.

Resonance Special Assault Rifle

The special assault rifle is a specially modified blast cannon that has a heavier weight and less stopping power, for a 100% increase in the weapon's range. This powerful weapon is very expensive and usually only given to Legionnaires and other special forces units.
