Terran Confederacy Soldier OCC
(Version 1.01 - Last Modified: 09/26/2004)
From its origin on Tarsonis, the Terran Confederacy has ruled with an iron fist, but the iron in that
fist relied on the legions of marines under the command of the leaders of the Terran Confederacy. These
soldiers, many drug addicts, were very loyal to the leadership of the Terran Confederacy, often because
they were the ones that provided safety and security of the soldiers' families, although in many cases
the loyalty stemmed from the simple fact that the Terrain Confederacy provided drugs to the soldiers.
However imperfect, the Terran Confederacy provided some semblance of order in a chaotic sector of
space.
This is the way it had been since the Terran Confederacy first returned to space. Only the slowly
improving technology kept the poorly educated and trained Confederacy soldiers alive during most fights,
but it was often enough against the occasional pirates, terrorists, and uprisings that the Confederacy
had to deal with. It was not until the rise of Arcturus Mensk that the Terran Confederacy felt any
measure of fear. In Arcturus Mensk, they saw an immense danger. He was an intractable leader and
inspired those that followed him, he was even admired by his enemies, so the Terran Confederacy created
propaganda that painted him in the worse possible light. Helped in part by the actions of Mensk and his
organization the Sons of Korhal, this campaign succeeded in marginalizing Mensk among the citizens of
the Terran Confederacy slowing and eventually stopping the defections that had crept into the ranks of
soldiers. However, when the Zerg and the Protoss threats appeared and Arcturus Mensk boldly rescued
General Edmund Duke from certain defeat, there was little chance the leaders of the Terran Confederacy
could contain the news. Within a matter of weeks, General Duke's Alpha Squadron, representing a quarter
of the entire military force of the Terran Confederacy, had joined the Sons of Korhal and the brief
revolution that saw the rise of the Terran Dominion destroyed must of the rest.
Although the Terran Confederacy was crushed by Arcturus Mensk, his newly created Terran Dominion was
little different. Although it is impossible to know what changes Mensk might have initiated had he had
enough time as emperor of the Terran Dominion, his few years in power saw little change in the military
of the old Terran Confederacy. The same manufacturing plants and equipment designs were used, the same
training techniques were employed, and with General Duke as the head of the military, even some of the
officers in charge remained the same.
The typical Confederacy soldier is not very well educated, but between the drugs and their belief that
they are the sole protectors of their loved ones, most are driven to fight. Even after Arcturus Mensk
took control and transformed the Terran Confederacy into the Terran Dominion, the troops remained the
same, the only difference was the people in charge. The Terran Confederacy, and by extention the Terran
Dominion, used a typical military structure for their soldiers, but they have three branches: the
Marine Corps, the Navy, and the Air Force. The Marine Corps is trained for fighting in all environments,
from open ground to spaceship corridors to zero-gravity. The Navy controls all spaceships in the fleet
and commands the transports that move troops from one planet to the next. Finally, the Air Force controls
anything that flies, whether it flies in an atmosphere or in space, with the exception of the
spaceships. With the use of MOS skill packages, this OCC can be used to represent any of these military
professions.
O.C.C. Abilities:
- Soldier Specialization
Although soldiers belonging to the Terran Confederacy receive similar training, there are a few
branches of soldiers that receive extra training to perform specific duties. These groups of
soldiers can choose one of the following soldier specializations, but all other soldiers receive
only basic training, basic equipment, and basic bonuses.
- Combat Marine:
The combat marines, the core of the fighting force of the Terran Confederacy, are tough
soldiers. They are trained how to deal with terrible physical and mental conditions, how to
operate in the worst possible circumstances, and how to obey orders without question and
hesitation. Unfortunately, part of their rigorous training is a subtle, and sometimes not
so subtle, effort to get the marines addicted to drugs whose production is firmly in the
hands of the Terran Confederacy.
- MOS Skills: Select one MOS from the following list: Basic Ground Infantry,
Space Marine, or Underwater Marine and select one other MOS from the basic MOS
category. Select an additional MOS from either MOS category at level 7.
- Bonuses: +1 to PS and PE attributes and +3D6 S.D.C.
- Firebat:
A Firebat is a special type of ground marine that operates the powerful "Perdition" flame
throwers. Firebats are used for close-range assaults and they are devastatingly effective.
- MOS Skills: Basic Ground Infantry and select one other MOS from the basic
MOS category. Select an additional MOS from either MOS category at level 7.
- Bonuses: +2 to PE attribute and +3D6 S.D.C.
- Medic:
Medics have a special place in the Terran Confederacy. Although most soldiers are cut
apart when their armor is breached, they can also be damaged by being thrown around in
their armor. Keeping soldiers fit and combat ready is the mission of the medics.
- MOS Skills: Basic Ground Infantry and Medic. Select an additional MOS from
either MOS category at level 7.
- Bonuses: +2 to ME attribute and +1D6 S.D.C.
- Alpha Squadron Combat Marine:
Although they come out of basic training the same as all other combat marines, the
soldiers that are chosen for Alpha Squadron are a cut above the rest. Once in Alpha
Squadron, these soldiers receive extra training to make them even better.
- MOS Skills: Select one MOS from the following list: Basic Ground Infantry,
Space Marine, or Underwater Marine and select one other MOS from either the basic
or advanced MOS categories. Select an additional MOS from either MOS category at
level 7.
- Bonuses: +2 to PS and PE attributes and +5D6 S.D.C.
- Alpha Squadron Firebat:
Like their combat marine compatriots, the Firebats from Alpha Squadron are better then
those in other gruops.
- MOS Skills: Basic Ground Infantry and select one other MOS from either the
basic or advanced MOS categories. Select an additional MOS from either MOS category
at level 7.
- Bonuses: +1 to PS attribute, +3 to PE attribute, and +5D6 S.D.C.
- Bonuses
Terran Confederacy Soldiers receive +1 to PS, +1 to PE, +1D4 to Spd attribute, +2D6 to S.D.C.,
