(Version 1.00 - Last Modified: 08/15/2002)
A Templar Caste Ceremony

The Templar caste was created to protect the Protoss race following the end of the Aeon of Strife. Khas intended that the Templar caste would house the strongest psychics and would work to defend their race. During the centuries since the creation of the Khala, the Templar have loyally served their people and fought honorably and bravely against the overwhelming odds of the Zerg when they invaded the Protoss home world of Aiur.

The Templar Caste is broken down into several different areas, but the two most important are the Grand Army and the Grand Fleet. All of the Protoss in the Templar caste are under the command of a single Protoss Templar that carries the title of Steward of the Templar. The Steward is required to carry out the orders of the Conclave and ensure the security of the Protoss’ home world. Under the Steward of the Templar are Stewards that are in charge of each important section of the Templar caste, such as the Steward of the Grand Fleet. Each section of the military, such as the Grand Fleet, forms major groups, such as armies or fleets, which are led by Executors. Each Executor also has a member of the Judicator caste, called a Judicator Enforcer, assigned to him in order to ensure the will of the Conclave is being followed.

In addition to all of the support personnel needed, there are five important classes within the Templar caste. There are the Zealot Warriors, the main ground troops of the Grand Army. The Dragoons, which supports the Zealot Warriors in ground combat. The Templar Pilots, who fly the fighters in the Grand Fleet. The High Templar, who represent the most powerful psychics among the Protoss race and usually hold control the highest positions within the Templar caste. Finally there are the Archons, who are incredibly powerful entities that are created by merging the energies of two High Templar.
