Fulbtzs Berrentzs Command Base
(Version 1.00 - Last Modified: 12/13/2003)
The Zentraedi fleets were, for the first part of their existence, supplied from the various industrial centers
of Tirol's empire. However, as the Zentraedi armada grew in the wake of the Ci'Vonian disaster and after several
industrial sites were destroyed by the Disciples of Zor or the Invid, plans were made to centralize several key
parts of the Zentraedi supply lines into a few gigantic and 'unbeatable' positions. The Robotech Factory
Satellites were constructed and took over production of most Zentraedi ships as well as half of the clone
production and much of the expendables manufacturing. However, the greatest project ever finished was the Command
Base, a supply depot and clone manufacturing center and the operations base for the Zentraedi High Command. In
the later days of the Tirolian Mercantile Empire, a third of the Zentraedi were cloned here.
It was decided that the defense of the new Command Base would not be based on heavily arming the Command Base
itself, contrary to what one would expect of a Zentraedi headquarters. As the Command Base had no maneuverability
to speak of, and had far too much strategic value to be risked in combat, any large weapons on the Command Base
would remain unused in the best case, and invite the Base commander to enter combat in the worst case. Instead,
the Command Base was provided with a huge organic defense fleet. Should the Command Base ever come under attack
from the Disciples of Zor, this fleet would destroy the attacker or, if the attacker was too strong for that, buy
enough time for the Command Base to fold to safety. Unknown to the Zentraedi, the DoZ had insufficient Reflex
Cannons to destroy the Command Base by bombardment, and any smaller weapons had no chance of breaking through the
bases's kilometers-thick armor and get to the vitals inside before the Command Base would be able to fold. The
only vulnerable spot in the original design were the doors of the main shipping lock. If a concentrated nuclear
missile bombardment were to impact on the locks, the torpedoes would soon be passing through the remains of the
doors and into the base itself. For this contingency, the doors were made of a 330' (100 m) thick depleted uranium
and vanadium mix. Additionally, the doors were doubled, so that there were four such doors at the entrance and
four more at the terminus. As a ranged defense against mecha and torpedoes closing on the locks, a large number of
anti-mecha and anti-torpedo missile launchers were installed on the Command Base, with over a thousand of them
around the lock area. With this defense array, the Robotech Masters felt convinced the Command Base could not be
destroyed before it had a chance to retreat.
As it happened, the defenses of the Command Base were never tested until the Zentraedi Holocaust in orbit of Earth.
On the orders of Dolza, the Command Base folded to Earth to oversee the destruction of the micronian culture and
the Zentraedi it had infected, an infection of Zentraedi on a far larger scale than had been the case with the
Disciples of Zor. Dolza was determined that this time, the infection would be contained before Breetai and his
micronian allies could escape the system, as the DoZ had done centuries ago. The risk to the Command Base would
be mostly evaded because almost all Zentraedi fleets had been gathered together and were to fold into the Sol
system first. However, Breetai and the Terrans refused to cooperate with his plans. With its defense fleet and
the Grand Fleet engaged in a running battle with the Adoclas fleet under Breetai's command, and much of the crew
still somewhat disoriented by Minmei's singing, the Macross managed to close with the Command Base. In the last
minute, rather than advancing on the lock doors for a Reflex Cannon salvo, the SDF-1 rammed the hull of the
Command Base near one of the emergency exits, of which the existence and position was relayed to the SDF-1 by the
defectors. Dolza had expected and had planned counters for an attack again the main lock and surviving records
indicate there was a Flagship in the locks, ready to fire its own Reflex Cannon as soon as the SDF-1 entered its
firing zone. With the pinpoint shields activated, the SDF-1 was able to penetrate the walls without crippling
damage. The ship burst into the emergency exit and following that passage soon entered the central chamber. With
no Zentraedi defenses between the ship and the Command Base's Reflex furnaces, the SDF-1 wasted little time before
launching a missile salvo. The Command Base exploded mere seconds after the salvo hit taking most of the vessels
specifically assigned to defend the base down with it.
The Fulbtzs Berrentzs Command Base was a vaguely cylindrical asteroid, with large protrusions on each end.
Consisting of heavy metal ores, the original asteroid was to be mined by the Tirolians for these metals. However,
re-assignment of the asteroid as a Zentraedi base somewhat changed the standard mining procedure. Rather than
starting at the surface, a tunnel was bored through the richest surface vein until about 7.5 miles (12 km) inside
the asteroid. From that point on, the innermost half of the diameter was removed throughout the asteroid, save for
the core surrounding the longest axis, which was left as a foundation for the heavy equipment that would be
mounted. Once hollowed out, the inside of the Command Base was filled with air and even some moisture,
precipitating clouds inside. Artificial solar illuminators and heaters were then installed, giving the interior
an almost Earth-like light and temperature. Excess heat was removed by gigantic thermo-voltaic surfaces, and then
shunted to the monopolar heat sink in the fold drive.
In the center parts of the central stalk a number of the largest Protoculture reactors ever made were housed, to
provide power to the environmental and propulsion systems. The entrance tunnel was widened and given heavily
reinforced doors, and would serve hereafter as the main lock for the base, capable of allowing a Zentraedi Flagship
entrance to the central space. A small number of emergency exits were also built, their precise location a closely
guarded secret, and their final kilometers of terminal approaches left undisturbed. Should it ever have become
impossible to use the main locks, any ships inside could escape by blowing up the intervening walls. However, this
would have depressurized the entire base and leed to a massive loss of Zentraedi resources. Consequently, no ships
ever exited from these emergency corridors, though one ship once entered the base through one, just before the
destruction of the base. Also included in the main stalk were the offices and quarters of the Zentraedi High
Command. As a supply point and as a main Zentraedi cloning station, the Command Base sported large storage
warehouses near both ends of the central stalk, and extensive cloning and training facilities for all the
mass-produced Zentraedi in the interior walls. These training facilities included large training spaces and an
extensive area devoted to advanced flight training. There were a number of starship docks available inside the
Command Base. However, the Zentraedi never used the Command Base as a major production station, instead fixing
ships up so that they could make a fold to a Factory Satellite or another repair site. Neither were there any
major production facilities inside the Command Base; most of its supplies came by a continuous stream of
transports from the various industrial centers of the Tirolian Mercantile Empire.

Special Systems:
- Medial and Bio-Scan Facilities
The station has extensive medical facilities that can do anything from mend broken bones to extremely
complicated surgery. The station also has a complete bio-scan chamber used to study and analyze alien life
forms and to provide detailed information regarding the physiology, chemical structure, and genetic
structure of that life form.
- Missile Storage
The station has storage for a large number of missiles used by all Zentraedi ships. Fully loaded, the
station holds 50,000,000 SAA-1 Granite (Gliquoun Touwhaug) Long Range Missiles, 5,000,000 SSA-1 Sniper
(Lojredbeth Deuawhaug) Cruise Missiles, and 5,000,000 SSA-2 Scrapper (Letkes Deuawhaug) Cruise Missiles.
These can be transferred to other Zentraedi ships to reload their missile supplies or they can be used
to reload the station's own missile launchers. Transferring missiles to another ship takes about one
minute for every 200 missiles transferred. Reloading the station's missile racks takes about 1 melee round
to completely reload one missile launcher and up to 100 launchers can be reloaded simultaneously.
- Protoculture Reactor Recharger
The station is able to recharge other ship's Protoculture Reactors by draining its own reactor of energy.
For every ten years recharged by the station, the life span of the station's Protoculture Reactor is
reduced by one year.
- Spaceship Production Facilities
The station contains marginal spaceship construction facilities. There are 5 building docks measuring
13,123' (4000 m) in length, 12 building docks measuring 8202' (2500 m) in length, and 48 building docks
measuring 1969' (600 m) in length. In total, 65 ships could be under construction at the same time. The
station is only designed to build Zentraedi ship, not Tirolian or Border Fleet ships. At normal production
it takes one month to build a Tou Redir Class Scout Ship, two months to build a Rineunadou Lojmeuean Class
Monitor or a Thuverl Salan Class Destroyer, three months to build a Quiltra Queleual Class Multipurpose
Transport or a Queadol Magdomilla Class Command Ship, and four months to build a Nupetiet Vergnitzs Class
flagship. Reduce production times by half if a facility is at maximum production, but for every month the
facility is at maximum production there is a cumulative 5% chance that the facility will fail and require
1D4 months of repair before restarting operations.
- Spaceship Repair Facilities
Each spaceship construction dock can be used to repair or refit a Zentraedi ship; the docks can also be
used to repair or refit any Tirolian or Border Fleet ship. The length of time it takes to repair a ship
depends on the extent of the damage or disrepair of the ship. The average length of time to repair a ship
can last from a few days to a several weeks.
- Mecha Production Facilities
The station contains extensive mecha construction facilities. There are ten mecha factories and each
factory is designed to be generic and can construct any Zentraedi mecha. At normal production, each factory
can produce 1000 Regult Combat Pods, 300 Glaug Battle Pods, 750 Light Artillery Pods, 750 Heavy Artillery
Pods, 500 Recon Scout Pods, 500 Raulonve Fighter Pods, 500 Nousjadeul-Ger Calvary Power Armor, 200
Queadlunn-Rau Tactical Power Armor, 2000 Hover Platforms, 500 Glaug Booster Units, 800 Light Defense Drones,
or 600 Heavy Defense Drones per week. It takes one week to retool a factory from producing one mecha type to
a different mecha type. Double rate of production if a factory is at maximum production, but for every month
the factory is at maximum production there is a cumulative 5% chance that the factory will fail and require
1D4 weeks of repair before restarting operations.
- Auxiliary Production Facilities
The station contains extensive auxiliary construction facilities. There are six auxiliary factories and
each factory is designed to be generic and can construct any auxiliary Zentraedi unit. At normal
production, each factory can produce 25 Quel Quallie Cyclops Reconnaissance Scouts, 75 Liewneuatzs
Personnel Shuttles, or 150 Frandlar Tiluvo Transport Pods per week. It takes one week to retool a
factory from producing one unit type to a different unit type. Double rate of production if a factory is
at maximum production, but for every month the factory is at maximum production there is a cumulative 5%
chance that the factory will fail and require 1D4 weeks of repair before restarting operations.
- Weapon Production Facilities
The station contains extensive weapon construction facilities. There is one factory dedicated to
producing armor and another dedicated to producing infantry weapons. At normal production, the factories
can produce 8000 suits of armor of any type and 8000 infantry weapons of any type per week. Double rate
of production if a factory is at maximum production, but for every month the factory is at maximum
production there is a cumulative 5% chance that the factory will fail and require 1D4 weeks of repair
before restarting operations.
- Missile Production Facilities
The station contains extensive missile construction facilities. There are ten missile factories and each
factory is designed to be generic and can construct any Tirolian missile. At normal production, each
factory can produce 30,000 short range missiles, 20,000 medium range missiles, 5000 long range missiles,
or 1000 cruise missiles per week. It takes one week to retool a factory from producing one missile type
to a different missile type. Double rate of production if a factory is at maximum production, but for
every month the factory is at maximum production there is a cumulative 5% chance that the factory will
fail and require 1D4 weeks of repair before restarting operations. The construction of a missile includes
all guidance systems and warheads, although no more then 50 reflex warheads of any type can be built per
week.
- Close Production Facilities
The station is able to produce 50,000 new Zentraedi warrios each month or either gender. New clones are
created fully mature, but they require a training period that generally lasts for two months before they
are considered to be fully trained.
Standard Systems:
- Life Support System
The station has a fully operational life support system that provides fresh atmosphere throughout the ship.
The life support system can sustain hundreds of millions of people indefinitely.
- Communication Systems
The station is equipped with four communication systems. The first is a long range laser system with a maximum
range of 100,000 miles (160,934 km), the transmissions travel at the speed of light, but they rely on line
of sight, so it cannot communicate with a ship that is on the other side of a solid object. The second system
is a long range radio system with a maximum range of 60,000 miles (96,561 km), the transmissions travel at the
speed of light, but they are easy to intercept and jam. The third system is a satellite relay system that
allows the ship to boost the range of the other communication systems indefinitely by using satellites or
other ships to relay the transmission. The forth system is a Hyperspace Communications Relay, which travels
at a rate of one light-year every 5 seconds. Hyperspace communications can travel through planets and other
obstructions unhindered, are extremely difficult to intercept, and impossible to jam. The ship's communication
array can communicate with up to 25,000 ships simultaneously.
- Sensor Systems
The station is equipped with four sensor systems. The first is the Electromagnetic Detection Equipment that
detects other sensor systems at twice the maximum range of their transmitter. The second is a powerful array
that uses standard radar waves, which are fairly easy to jam, but it is obvious when the radar array is
being jammed. The sensor can track tiny targets at a range of up to 1.5 million miles (2.4 million km), small
targets at a range of up to 15 million miles (24.1 million km), medium targets at a range of up to 25 million
miles (40.2 million km), and large targets at a range of up to 40 million miles (64.4 million miles). The
third is a Subspace Mass Sensor that uses gravity-based technology to detect target's at real time speed.
The sensor can track tiny targets at a range of up to 2 million miles (3.2 million km), small targets at a
range of up to 20 million miles (32.2 million km), medium targets at a range of up to 40 million miles (64.4
million km), and large targets at a range of up to 60 million miles (96.6 million miles). The forth is a
Hyperspace Mass Sensor that can detect and track ships that are using a Fold Drive. The sensor can track
tiny targets at a range of up to 8 parsecs (26.08 light-years), small targets at a range of up to 40 parsecs
(130.4 light-years), medium targets at a range of up to 80 parsecs (260.8 light-years), and large targets at
a range of up to 120 parsecs (391.2 light-years). See Tirolian
Ship Systems for more details on sensor systems.
- Targeting Computer System
Connecting the station's sensor systems with the weapon systems is the Targeting Computer System. The
system is designed to control all of the weapons currently equipped on the station. This system can track up
to 1500 targets simultaneously, providing detailed information about the targets from the ships data files.
All direct fire weapons receive a bonus of +6 to strike and all missile weapons receive a bonus of +4 to
strike. These bonuses are in addition to any previously stated bonuses or penalties.
Combat Summary:
- Combat Actions: 8
- Strike: +6 to strike with direct fire weapons and +4 to strike with missile weapons.
- Dodge: -10 to dodge
- Targeting System: Can track up to 1500 targets simultaneously.
- Note: Cannot perform the Evasive Maneuvers spaceship combat maneuver
