Gun Jack Project

(Version 1.00 - Last Modified: 05/12/2003)
Inspired by the Tekken series from Namco.

Introduction

Many corporations and governments have wanted to create a robotic warrior. A warrior that would not need to eat, sleep, or be paid. So far, that goal has eluded all major players around the world and no mass-market robot has been created, but this will soon change. Working entirely in secret and over the course of the past several decades, a formerly government controlled research and manufacturing lab in Russia has finished a 100% sentient combat robot. Although not equipped with a huge number of complex, or expensive, gadgets, the robot is incredibly strong and very difficult to destroy.

Although it took many years and a large number of prototypes to work out all of the bugs, the Gun Jack Project is considered to be a complete success, and the Russian company is setting up offices in China, the United States, and several other countries around the world, where they intend to demonstrate the usefulness of their robot to various militaries. The hope is that no military will want to be without these robots and once they see competing countries have them, the orders will flow. The company has already taken orders from corporations, especially international corporations that want to increase their internal security forces.

Although built to a specific design, it is possible to customize an order to fit certain needs. To this end, the Gun Jack Project comes with a series of completely tested and 100% guaranteed modules that can be built into the order, upon request of the buyer. Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible to replace a module once it is built into the robot, so the company advises all of its customers to choose modules carefully.

Of course the most valuable component of the robot, its advanced artificial intelligence, has been fully tested and all of the bugs have been worked out. The artificial intelligence still has a few quirks in it, such as thoroughly enjoying picnics and green grass, but instead of attempting to mess with the AI further, the company simply left those quirks in place. The AI can be customized to be as honorable or a vile as the buyer wants, but the company does recommend certain restrictions. For example, the AI can be programmed to enjoy killing and lying, but the company does not recommend that the AI be programmed like this. The average AI will be similar to Aberrant in alignment and will follow orders perfectly and to the letter, but does not take any special pleasure in killing or violence. Although it is possible to reprogram the AI of the robot, there are many layers of defense, and all programming skill checks are made with a penalty of -40%. In addition, the AI can be programmed with a variety of skill packages, many of which are customized to fit with the modules that the robot can be equipped with.

Gun Jack Modules

As part of the Gun Jack Project, the Russian company created special modules that could be purchased alongside the standard robot to increase its usefulness. Currently there are only a few modules available outside of the standard configuration, but the number could increase if the company believes it is a reasonable investment.

Basic Combat

This is the basic configuration given above, no modifications are necessary.

Combat Scout

Designed for scouting missions, including short and long range reconnaissance, this modules adds a few new features to the basic Gun Jack robot, but at an increased cost.

Security Guard

Designed for security operations and not for direct combat, this module decreases the robot's speed, but adds a few new weapon systems.
