The massive Japanese firm Mishima Zaibatsu has been engaged in secret genetic research for decades, but most of that research has been into the development and cultivation of the Devil gene and the Ogre gene, two very powerful genomes that were discovered completely by accident by the firm's CEO, President, and founder, Heihachi Mishima.
Wanting to properly experiment with the genes, which had been extracted from several decayed creatures found in the mountains of Tibet, Heihachi implanted the Devil genome into his son Kazuya Mishima. Within a few short years, the Devil gene took almost complete control over Kazuya's body, making it stronger, faster, and changed his physical appearance dramatically. Unfortunately, Kazuya became incredibly ambitious and decided to take control over his father's company and kill Heihachi in the process. During the resulting fight, Kazuya was defeated and thrown into a volcano by Heihachi, but that did not end his life. The Devil genes became dormant once again and a mysterious genetic engineering company known as G Corporation secretly revived Kazuya.
Before he was "killed," Kazuya had a son that also possessed the Devil gene, but it was a more dilute version, and manifested itself differently. Jin Kazama possessed incredible strength and strange powers, but he had no physical manifestations from the Devil gene. It would be decades before Heihachi Mishima would locate his son and his grandson and see the result of his experiments. In the meantime, G Corporation extracted the Devil gene from Kazuya and began to develop it as a super soldier formula, they met with widely variable results, sometimes creating powerful soldiers, while other times, those injected with the genes would die horribly.
In complete contrast with his very personal involvement with the Devil Gene Project, Heihachi was not involved with the Ogre Gene Project. He read the update reports and was kept abreast of the project's progress, but he was only concerned with the end product of the project, which he wanted to combine with the Devil gene to create the ultimate warrior. Heihachi's ultimate strategy was to combine the two genes and inject them into his own body, transforming himself into the most powerful warrior on the planet. Unfortunately, the plan was proceeding much slower then he had anticipated and the death of his son removed the most viable source of the Devil gene years before Heihachi wanted to extract the gene.
Where the Devil gene manifested itself by changing its host into a horned creature with wings and purple wings, the Ogre gene transformed its host into a towering creature with huge muscles. The end result of the Ogre Gene Project would be very useful super soldiers, powerful enough to take on most superheroes, which is an area that many governments are interested in exploring. If the Ogre gene could be successfully developed, Mishima Zaibatsu would make billions of dollars in lucrative contracts to government militaries and private security firms all over the world. By the time that Heihachi had located his revived son and his grandson, the Ogre Gene Project was nearly complete and almost ready to be marketed.
G Corporation has begun manufacturing the Devil gene in small quantities and has made it available in three different gene therapy treatments. The smallest, easiest, and cheapest treatment is for the partial genome and only causes small changes in the host. The mass of the host will increase by 10% and their skin will have a very slight purple tinge to it, although the original skin color will remain dominant. The cost of the Partial Devil Genome Treatment is roughly 3 million dollars (US) for a single treatment, although many governments and corporations have arranged for discounts based on large purchases.
The partial genome of the Devil gene causes a increase in strength and reaction time and while not as powerful as the partial genome for the Ogre gene, the host will become faster and more agile. The partial genome transforms the host into the equivalent of a super soldier and provides the following super power: Energy Expulsion: Energy and the following bonuses: +5 to PP, +2D4 to Spd, +1 attack per melee, +3 to initiative, and +4 to parry and dodge.
With the continued development of the Devil gene, G Corporation was able to develop a treatment that would combine roughly fifty percent of the full Devil gene into a host's body. This treatment caused great excitement among governments looking for super soldier formulas, although G Corporation is still considering whether to sell the treatment or form their own mercenary group to rent to paying customers. With the half treatment, the host is transformed even more into the Devil creature. The mass of the host will increase by 25% and their skin will have a definite purple coloring, although their original color will still be present. The most dramatic change will be the host's eyes, which will become completely red, and the leathery wings that will grow on the host's back. The cost of the Half Devil Genome Treatment is roughly 4.5 million dollars (US) for a single treatment, although many governments and corporations have arranged for discounts based on large purchases.
The half genome of the Devil gene will transform the host into an even more powerful creature, capable of fighting most heroes alone. The half genome provides the following super powers: Flight: Winged and Super Energy Expulsion: Energy and the following bonuses: +8 to PP, +3D6 to Spd, +2 attacks per melee, +5 to initiative, +3 to strike, and +8 to parry and dodge.
The full genome treatment of the Devil gene has only been attempted in the labs of G Corporation once and they did not care much for the results. The resulting creature was very powerful and also very aggressive and cunning. It sharpened the reflexes of the host amazingly, but also caused the host to transform into a monster. The mass of the host will increase by 50% and their skin will become purple and cold to touch and the eyes will become solid red. The host will grow horns on the top of the head, as well as sharp teeth and long claws on the feet and hands and large leathery wings will grow on the host's back. The horns on the host's head can be used to attack others and will inflict 1D6+2 points of damage per attack, although PS bonuses do apply. The sharp teeth provide the host with a bite attack that inflicts 1D4 points of damage. The claws on the hands and feet will increase punching and kicking damage by 1D6 points of damage. The host also gains a horror factor of 12. The cost of the Full Devil Genome Treatment is roughly 6 million dollars (US) for a single treatment, although many governments and corporations have arranged for discounts based on large purchases.
The full genome of the Devil gene creates a monster that is incredibly powerful and difficult to defeat in combat. The full genome provides the following super powers: Extraordinary Physical Prowess, Flight: Winged, Force Aura, Healing Factor, and Super Energy Expulsion: Energy.
As with the Devil gene, it is possible to add the Ogre gene to a person through a painful gene therapy treatment. Mishima Zaibatsu has perfected a partial gene therapy and is secretly making it available for paying customers to test. The company has made it available both to governments and underground organizations, allowing anyone that can pay the price to take part. The cost of the Partial Ogre Genome Treatment is roughly 2.5 million dollars (US) for a single treatment, although many governments and corporations have arranged for discounts based on large purchases.
With the partial genome of the Ogre gene, a person gains increased strength and becomes physically larger and more aggressive. The partial genome transforms the host into the equivalent of a super soldier and provides the following super power: Extraordinary Physical Strength and the following bonuses: +5 to PE, +1 attack per melee, +1 on all special attacks such as Disarm, Entangle, Knockout, Death Blow, etc., and +3 to strike and parry. Unfortunately, even with just the partial genome, a host will be physically changed, however slightly. The hosts will increase in height by 10% and mass by 25% and their skin tone will become slightly olive green, although their previous skin color will remain dominant.
Without going to extremes, the half genome therapy is the most popular of the Ogre gene treatments although it is much more expensive then the partial treatment. With this level of gene integration, the host becomes much more powerful and much more like the full Ogre. The hosts will increase in height by 25% and mass by 50% and their skin tone will be olive green regardless of their original skin tone. Also, their face will become more ugly and monstrous, with larger teeth, a sloping forehead, and a protruding chin; this results in a penalty of -2D4 to the host's PB attribute. The cost of the Half Devil Genome Treatment is roughly 3.75 million dollars (US) for a single treatment, although many governments and corporations have arranged for discounts based on large purchases.
As for increased strength and combat reflexes, the host gains the following super powers: Extraordinary Physical Endurance and Superhuman Strength and the following bonuses: +3 attack per melee, +3 on all special attacks such as Disarm, Entangle, Knockout, Death Blow, etc., and +6 to strike and parry.
The ultimate level of the Ogre treatment results in the transformation of the hosts into beings that look like the Ogre. The hosts will increase in height by 50% and mass by 100% and their skin tone will be olive green regardless of their original skin tone. Their face will be completely transformed into a monstrous face, with large canine teeth, a large forehead, and a very large chin. Their entire body will be heavily muscled, but there will be enough of their old appearance to make them recognizable to people who knew them well before the transformation. With their new body, the hosts' P.B. attribute will be reduced to only 6 and they gain a horror factor of 10. The cost of the Full Ogre Genome Treatment is roughly 3 million dollars (US) for a single treatment, although many governments and corporations have arranged for discounts based on large purchases.
With the new body and the full Ogre gene, the host will possess incredible power and strength and will possess the following super powers: Extraordinary Physical Endurance, Healing Factor, Natural Combat Ability, and Supernatural Strength.
The ultimate goal of all of the Mishima Zaibatsu and the G Corporation. To perfect such a treatment would give incredible power and wealth, as governments and individuals would pay untold billions to get such a treatment. Neither corporation has the ability to make the combined treatment, but there could be other sources of the genones in the world that could be unknown to both corporations and there could be accidental exposures to the genone, creating an incredibly powerful, but mentally unstable being. The creature develops an incredible sense of paranoia and develops two random insanities, but the creature will also be a very powerful leader and will form a close group of allies and associates, a group that will become larger and more powerful as the creature uses its power to amass wealth and respect. Unless highly trained or controlled, the creature will only follow another person's orders if it suits it and will often strike out on its own after it has mastered all of its abilities.
The combined creature's appearance is a combination of the full Devil and Ogre treatments, with the result being a massive creature of muscle, leathery wings, and power. The host will increase in height by 50% and mass by 100% and their skin tone will be a mixture of olive green and purple regardless of their original skin tone and will be cold to the touch. The host's eyes will become solid red and large horns will grow on top of the host's head, followed be sharp teeth and claws and large leathery wings on the host's back. The host's face becomes quite monstrous, becoming very demonic and feral in appearance and their body becomes covered in large, well-sculpted muscles. There is little of the host's original appearance in its new body, but with close study, people that new the host before the transformation may be able to recognize the host. With these physical changes, the host's P.B. attribute is reduced to only 5 and the host gains a horror factor of 15.
The horns on the host's head can be used to attack others and will twice as much damage as the host's punch attack. In addition, the teeth provide the host with a bite attack that inflicts 2D4 points of damage plus half of any PS damage bonuses. If the host uses the hand claws as part of a punch attack, the claws add +2D4 points of damage to the attack's normal punch damage and the feet claws add +2D6 points of damage to the kick attack's damage. The host also gains the following super powers: Extraordinary Physical Endurance, Extraordinary Physical Prowess, Flight: Winged, Force Aura, Healing Factor, Natural Combat Ability, Supernatural Strength, and Super Energy Expulsion: Energy.
