Eaters
(Version 1.00 - Last Modified: 03/05/2006)
Introduction
The Coming of the Rifts, the Great Cataclysm, the end of the world; December 22, 2098 marked the end
of life on Earth as everyone knew it. The collapse of modern society had a devastating effect on the
survivors of the ruined cities of the great nations of the world. Although many people died in the
initial aftermath of the coming of the rifts, there were still plenty of people left, unfortunately
for them.
Beginning in the twentieth century, most cities in North America got their good through a series of
distributors that delivered food each day to an independent network of convenience stores, markets,
supermarkets, WalMarts, and other stores. If these shipments stopped, most cities could only feed
the population for a few days at most and while some people died in the initial aftermath of the
disaster, enough survived that the food supply could not stretch very far. The big food distribution
centers could support a large number of people for a long time, but they were few and far between
and only a relatively small number of people knew where they were. Most people did not even begin to
think about food for the first few days, but when the disaster continued and order was not restored
outside of the limited aid from the army and groups like NEMA, people began to worry about the
future. People began to fight, scramble, and steal to get the food they needed for themselves and
their families. After a week, people began to realize that their was not enough food to go around,
they began to panic and they began to fight harder for what remained.
Most of the people that were willing to use force and to kill for food and power became bandits, but
as the weeks went on, food became even more scarce, it could not just found in stores and where NEMA
wasn't stepping in to protect the remaining food stores, armed people were taking that job. People
already devastated by the collapse of everything they knew combined with the lack of food, made them
go crazy and made them look for other sources of food. Unfortunately, these highly disturbed people
looked around and saw a great source of food, walking on two legs. These people became cannibals and
the mind-warping guilt of eating other people, caused these unfortunate souls to devolve further,
completely cutting them off from the rest of survivors. They became a plague on weary and
unsuspecting travels, one more danger in the world of ever increasing danger. As NEMA began to hear
rumors about these cannibals, they called them Eaters and issued orders that they were to be shot on
sight.
As the months wear on, the constant eating of brains caused some Eaters to mutate and develop
psionic powers. These even more dangerous Eaters were stronger and faster and they used their
limited psychic abilities very effectively. Unfortunately, the dark and evil act of cannibalism can
attract attention from the darkest corners of the megaverse. Already many supernatural eyes were
focused on Earth, the newest of the super nexus points in the megaverse and one of the dark gods
saw what was becoming of the Eaters and decided to "help" it along. The being focused its energy on
a few scattered groups of Eaters and infused them with dark energy, transforming them into minor
supernatural creatures that became known as Super Eaters by the NEMA groups.
Eater
The standard Eater is effectively a deranged Human, although their insanity allows them to push
their bodies past normal Human limits, they are still Human. Eaters live in small groups between
four and thirty and generally keep to themselves when they are not out hunting for food, but they
are not senseless killers. Although their deranged state and eating of Humans has hurt their
mental faculties, they were still once Human and understand when a useful person comes into their
grasp. Eaters often hold doctors and while their are some woman among the Eaters, most Eater
groups do keep woman captives. Often the prisoners of Eaters have limbs or other pieces removed
by the group as a sign of their captivity and most would rather be dead then remain prisoners
another day, requiring the Eaters to guard them constantly.

- Armor: Eaters understand how vulnerable they are against armed and armored NEMA
troops, so they will use ambushes and distractions to attack such groups, and only if the

Eaters will wear scavenged M.D.C. armor, although they have no way to repair it. Most
groups don't even have this measure of protection.
- Appearance: Eaters look like normal people, but they often wear shabby clothing,
not an uncommon sight in the months after the Coming of the Rifts. Some Eaters file their
teeth down to points or perform self-mutilation, but at first glance, they are often
indistinguishable from regular Humans. However, Eaters do not talk or interact with
non-Eaters in any way, which usually gives away their nature very quickly.
Psychic Eaters
Psychic Eaters are similar to their mundane cousins, but they have possess a few psionic abilities
that make them more dangerous threats.

Super Eaters
Super Eaters are the demented creations of an evil god that infused normal Eaters with dark energy.
