Introduction

All three of the Amazon Warrior's areas of specialization are described in detail in this document. The first area is Mystical Combat Skills, which are special actions and abilities that the barbarian can use or gain, most of them permanently. However, many of the abilities in this category require a permanent sacrifice of PPE, an important part of the other two areas of specialization. The second area is Bow and Crossbow Skills, which, as the name suggests, are special combat tricks that can be applied to arrows and bolts fired by these types of weapons. The third and final area is Spear and Javelin Skills, which is similar to the Bow and Crossbow specialization except it applies only to spears and javelins.

Mystical Combat Skills

Avoid

Requires: Dodge
Duration: Permanent
P.P.E.: Permanently reduce the Amazon Warrior's PPE by 5 points.
Description: This combat skill makes the Amazon Warrior much harder to hit with melee attacks. To those unfamiliar with the Amazon's mystical training, the warrior seems to bend in impossible ways to avoid incoming attacks. The Amazon Warrior gains a bonus of +1 to dodge any type of melee attack at level 3 and an additional +1 to dodge at levels 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15. For example, a 7th level Amazon Warrior gains a bonus of +3 to dodge any melee attack.

Create Decoy

Requires: Inner Sight and Slow Missiles
Duration: 1 hour per level of experience

Description: With this mystical combat skill, an Amazon can create a near-perfect copy of herself. This duplicate is a mindless automaton and will pass all but the closest examination. The only problem is that the duplicate has no intelligence and while it may look like the Amazon and all she was wearing or holding at the time of its creation, it cannot act without the express orders from the Amazon. The decoy can be given simple orders through mental commands by the Amazon that created it, which it follows exactly as worded, without remorse or hesitation, however, the decoy is not designed for combat, so even though it may wear or hold a bow identical to the Amazon's, it will not use the bow. Part illusion and part golem, the decoy is a solid structure, but everything about it, from the clothes it wears to the weapons it holds are all parts of its body and will disappear when it is killed or at the end of the skill's duration. The decoy is a perfect tool for confusing and distracting less-intelligent enemies, but the lack of response and noise from the decoy will quickly become apparent to an intelligent foe.
The decoy has the same Spd attribute of the Amazon, allowing it to keep up with the Amazon when she is moving, but it only has a 10 for PS and PP and when attacked it will not dodge. The main benefit of the decoy is that it is tougher then the Amazon, possessing the same S.D.C. and hit points of the Amazon with an additional bonus of +10% to both S.D.C. and hit points per level of experience starting at level 6. In addition, the decoy has a natural armor rating of 10 with a bonus of +1 at levels 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15. For example, if a 13th level Amazon with 62 S.D.C. and 59 hit points created a decoy, it would have 112 S.D.C. (62 * 1.8 = 111.6 -> 112), 106 hit points (59 * 1.8 = 106.2 -> 106), and a natural armor rating of 14.

Critical Strike

Duration: Permanent
P.P.E.: Permanently reduce the Amazon Warrior's PPE by 5 points.
Description: The Amazon Warriors are masters of precision strikes. They are not the strongest warriors, nor the biggest, but a single well placed arrow or spear thrust can take down even the mightiest warrior. This mystical combat skill enhances the Amazon's vision and accuracy in making this precise attacks, which is reflected in an Amazon's ability to make a Critical Strike. At first level, the range of natural numbers that an Amazon needs to roll to inflict a Critical Strike is increased by 1. This range increased by an additional 1 at levels 5, 10, and 15. This applies to all weapons that the Amazon may use, include unarmed attacks. For example, a 10th level Amazon Warrior with Hand-to-Hand Combat: Expert would inflict a Critical Strike on a natural roll of 17-20 (base of 20 from 10th level HtH: Expert with an increase of 3).

Dodge

Duration: Permanent

Description: This combat skill makes the Amazon Warrior much harder to hit with ranged attacks. To those unfamiliar with the Amazon's mystical training, the warrior seems to bend in impossible ways to avoid incoming attacks. The Amazon Warrior gains a bonus of +1 to dodge any type of ranged attack per level of experience. For example, a 6th level Amazon Warrior gains a bonus of +6 to dodge any ranged attack.

Evade

Requires: Avoid and Dodge
Duration: Permanent
P.P.E.: Permanently reduce the Amazon Warrior's PPE by 15 points.
Description: The final skill to help the Amazon Warrior avoid incoming attacks is exceptionally powerful. To those unfamiliar with the Amazon's mystical training, the warrior seems to bend in impossible ways to avoid incoming attacks. The Amazon gains the Auto-Dodge ability and gains a bonus of +1 to auto-dodge at level 5 and an additional bonus of +1 to auto-dodge at levels 8, 10, 12, and 15. For example, a 15th level Amazon Warrior gains a bonus of +5 to auto-dodge. Please remember that bonuses to dodge do not apply when using the Auto-Dodge ability, only auto-dodge bonuses apply.

Inner Sight

Duration: 1 melee round per level of experience
Area of Effect: 15' (4.6 m) per level of experience, centered on the Amazon
Targets: All opponents within the area of effect

Description: In the deep corners of the jungle, there are places where very little light reaches the jungle floor. In these conditions, the Amazon warriors needed a simple, but effective way to hunt their prey. This mystical ability causes all enemies of the Amazon, which includes any animals she is hunting, to glow softly. This enables the Amazon and her companions to see and hit these creature more easily. While the glow gives off very little light, certainly not enough to light even a small room, it can be clearly seen by anything with a line of sight to the affect target, and it cannot be extinguished or covered up. Anyone attacking an affected creature with a melee weapon gains a bonus of +1 to strike at first level and an additional +1 to strike at levels 5, 10, and 15. Anyone attacking an affected creature with a ranged weapon gains a bonus of +1 to strike at first level and an additional +1 to strike at levels 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15. For example, people attacking a creature affected by an Inner Sight cast by a 9th level Amazon would gain a bonus of +2 to strike with a melee weapon and +4 to strike with a ranged weapon.

Penetrate

Requires: Critical Strike

Description: The Amazon Warriors are renowned for their marksmanship, but hitting an enemy is not always enough. In the case of many supernatural creatures and monsters native to the Yin Sloth Jungles, simply hitting a monster does nothing to guarantee that the attack will penetrate the creatures thick armor. With this mystical combat skill, the Amazon Warrior completely ignores any natural armor rating that the target may have and if the target is wearing armor with an Armor Rating less then 20, then reduce the armor rating by 1 point at levels 6, 9, 12, and 15 to determine if the Amazon Warrior hit the target or the armor.

Pierce

Requires: Critical Strike and Penetrate
Duration: Permanent
P.P.E.: Permanently reduce the Amazon Warrior's PPE by 15 points.
Description: With Critical Strike, an amazon trains in how to make every arrow as damaging as possible, with Penetrate, an Amazon trains in how to bypass a creature's natural armor as if it did not exist, but with Pierce, an Amazon learns how to not only hit the target she is aiming for, but to have the shot continue through and hit another target as well. This mystical skill is difficult to master and requires a great sacrifice of energy from the Amazon, but its effect can be tremendous. Each time the amazon fires and hits with a bow, crossbow, javelin, or spear, there is a chance that the shot will not only hit and damage the first target, but pass through that target and hit an enemy in line with that target. The chance of success is 15% at level 5 with a bonus of +5% per level of experience starting at level 6 and it only occurs when the Amazon is making a ranged attack, so using a spear as a melee weapon has no chance to pass through the target to hit an additional target. Only one additional target can be hit and the same strike roll with all appropriate bonuses used against the first target is used against the second target. The second target of the attack, which must be the closest target in a straight line continuing from the Amazon to the first target, can dodge the attack normally. The Amazon can choose not to use this ability if she does not wish to damage any additional enemy targets or there is only one enemy in line with the Amazon.

Slow Missiles

Requires: Inner Sight
Duration: 1 melee round per level of experience
Area of Effect: 5' (1.5 m) per level of experience
Targets: All ranged attacks fired by opponents.

Description: By focusing her mystical abilities, an Amazon Warrior can attune herself to her environment and the dangers around her, allowing her to manipulate her environment in unexpected ways. An interesting combat skill the Amazon Warrior can develop is an ability to slow down all ranged attacks that travel through the area of effect. This provides not only the Amazon with an increased ability to dodge these ranged attacks, but all of her allies as well. As long as a ranged attack fired by an enemy passes through the area of effect of this skill, the target gains the Auto-Dodge ability to dodge that ranged attack. If the ranged attack is from a modern weapon, like a modern rifle, not an old musket, the target of the attack only gains a bonus of +5 to dodge instead of the Auto-Dodge ability. Remember that bonuses to dodge to not apply when using the Auto-Dodge ability.

Summon Valkyrie

Requires: Create Decoy, Inner Sight, and Slow Missiles
Duration: Permanent until destroyed
Range: The Valkyrie must remain within 200' (61 m) of the Amazon Warrior at all times.

Description: The ultimate mystical combat skill available to the Amazon Warriors is the ability to reach beyond the borders of their dimension and summon a powerful being to fight alongside them. These supernatural creatures, called Valkyries by the Amazons, are the servant-warriors of the Amazons' God Athulua and they will aide a proven Amazon in any task as long as it does not involve the destruction of temples to Athulua or the other Amazon Gods or the killing of Amazons unless the Valkyrie or the Amazon that summoned it are attacked first. The summoned Valkyrie is a permanent servant of the Amazon that summoned it and an Amazon Warrior can only have one Valkyrie servant at a time, but it can be dismissed at any time and it will immediately disappear. If the Amazon's Valkyrie is killed or if it is forced outside of the maximum range of control, it will disappear and the Amazon will take 5D6 points of damage directly to her hit points.
The alignment of the summoned Valkyrie matches the Amazon Warrior that summoned it and it will not hesitate to follow any command from the Amazon as long as the command matches the Valkyrie's alignment and does not conflict with the restrictions mentioned above. For example, an evil Amazon Warrior can use her Valkyrie servant to torture and kill an entire village of outsiders, but it will not hurt another Amazon warrior unless either it or the Amazon that summoned it are attacked first. In fact, the Valkyries would prefer to stay out of any conflicts between Amazon warriors and all but the most despicable Amazon's respect the Valkyrie's wishes in this manner.
The appearance of a Valkyrie is very similar to that of a typical Amazon Warrior. The major differences is that the Valkyrie's skin is very pale and glows when the Valkyrie is engaged in combat, the color of her eyes are golden, silver, or copper, and although she has definite feminine features, she is androgynous. When summoned, a Valkyrie's attributes and stats are set and do not change. As an Amazon gains levels, she must dismiss and summon a new Valkyrie in order to get a Valkyrie that matches her power level. A summoned Valkyrie carries two magical items at the time she is created: a magical spear and a magical suit of armor. The exact powers of these items depend greatly upon the level of the summoning Amazon. In addition, these magical items will disintegrate when taken or removed from the Valkyrie, but they reappear in the Valkyrie's possession 24 hours after they were taken. If dropped or thrown by the Valkyrie, the items will disappear after 10 minutes unless retrieved by the Amazon or are are touched by another creature, in which case, they disappear immediately. The Valkyrie also possesses many of the Amazons mystical combat skills. If the Amazon possessed any of the following mystical combat skills at the time the Valkyrie was created, the Valkyrie will possess them at the same level of experience as the Amazon when it was created: Avoid, Critical Strike, Dodge, Evade, Penetrate, and Pierce. Bow and Crossbow Skills

Cold Arrow

Duration: Instant
Range: Same as a normal arrow or bolt fired from the same type of weapon with an additional +10' (3 m) per level of experience. This range bonus is in addition to any range bonuses provided by weapon proficiencies and magical weapon enhancements.

Description: Although winter never reaches the Yin Sloth Jungles, the Amazons are familiar with cold climates and have learned to pray to the god Karcheus to harness the power of cold and ice. The Cold Arrow is the first step on a path that will allow the Amazon to specialize in delivering icy death to her enemies. Unlike some combat skills that require a melee attack to activate, this skill can be activated at will, but only once for each attack. When activated, the Amazon receives a bonus of +2 to strike at third level and an additional +1 to strike at levels 6, 9, 12, and 15. If the attack hits the target, the target takes 1D4 points of cold damage and an additional +1 point of cold damage per level of experience. In addition, the target must make a save vs. spell magic or be partially stunned by the intense cold. If the save is failed, the target receives a penalty of -2 to all combat rolls for 1 melee round. This cold damage is in addition to the normal damage caused by the bow or crossbow attack. Increase the magical cold damage by +3 for each of the following spells known by the Amazon: Freezing Arrow and Ice Arrow. For example, an eighth level Amazon Warrior with Ice Arrow would gain a bonus of +3 to strike and would inflict an additional 1D4+11 points of cold damage on a successful hit.

Exploding Arrow

Requires: Fire Arrow and Magic Arrow
Duration: Instant
Range: Same as a normal arrow or bolt fired from the same type of weapon with an additional +15' (4.6 m) per level of experience. This range bonus is in addition to any range bonuses provided by weapon proficiencies and magical weapon enhancements.
Area of Effect: 5' (1.5 m) radius from the point of impact.

Description: Another gift from Hefaetrus, an Amazon Warrior practiced in this skill can imbue an arrow or bolt with a deadly fire that explodes upon impact causing damage not only to the target but to creatures adjacent to the target. Unlike some combat skills that require a melee attack to activate, this skill can be activated at will, but only once for each attack. When activated, the Amazon receives a bonus of +3 to strike at fifth level and an additional +1 to strike at levels 8, 11, and 14. If the attack hits the target, the target takes 4D6 points of fire damage and everything else within a 5' (1.5 m) radius of the target takes 2D6 points of fire damage. Increase damage by +1 point of fire damage per level of experience starting at level 6. This fire damage is in addition to the normal damage caused by the bow or crossbow attack. Increase the magical fire damage by +6 if Immolation Arrow is also known. For example, a twelfth level Amazon Warrior with Immolation Arrow would gain a bonus of +5 to strike and would inflict an additional 4D6+13 points of fire damage to the main target and 2D6+13 points of fire damage to the surrounding area.

Fire Arrow

Duration: Instant
Range: Same as a normal arrow or bolt fired from the same type of weapon with an additional +10' (3 m) per level of experience. This range bonus is in addition to any range bonuses provided by weapon proficiencies and magical weapon enhancements.

Description: By praying to Hefaetrus, the Amazonian god of fire and rebirth, an Amazon Warrior can imbue an arrow or crossbow bolt with a powerful magical fire. Although not as powerful as the later combat skills, Fire Arrow is very useful for Amazon's just beginning their journey through life. Unlike some combat skills that require a melee attack to activate, this skill can be activated at will, but only once for each attack. When activated, the Amazon receives a bonus of +1 to strike at first level and an additional +1 to strike at levels 5, 10, and 15. If the attack hits the target, the target takes 1D6 points of fire damage and an additional +1 point of fire damage per level of experience. This fire damage is in addition to the normal damage caused by the bow or crossbow attack. Increase the magical fire damage by +3 for each of the following spells known by the Amazon: Exploding Arrow and Immolation Arrow. For example, a sixth level Amazon Warrior with Exploding Arrow would gain a bonus of +2 to strike and would inflict an additional 1D6+9 points of fire damage on a successful hit.

Freezing Arrow

Requires: Cold Arrow, Ice Arrow, and Magic Arrow
Duration: Instant
Range: Same as a normal arrow or bolt fired from the same type of weapon with an additional +20' (6.1 m) per level of experience. This range bonus is in addition to any range bonuses provided by weapon proficiencies and magical weapon enhancements.

P.P.E.: Permanently reduce the Amazon Warrior's PPE by 5 points.
Description: The greatest powerful provided to those dedicated to the god Karcheus is the skill to imbue an arrow or bolt with the freezing power of a devastating avalanche. Enemies hit by such an enchanted arrow or bolt are frozen in their tracks and feel crushing pain, as if a mass of magical ice had toppled onto them. Unlike some combat skills that require a melee attack to activate, this skill can be activated at will, but only once for each attack. When activated, the Amazon receives a bonus of +8 to strike at thirteenth level and an additional +1 to strike at each new level of experience starting at level 14. If the attack hits the target, the target takes 1D6x10 points of cold damage and the target is paralyzed for a number of melee attacks equal to the level of the Amazon Warrior. However, if the target makes the save vs. spell magic they are not paralyzed, but they suffer a penalty of -4 to all combat rolls for a number of melee attacks equal to the level of the Amazon Warrior. In either case, all fire attacks against the defender inflict triple damage for the duration of this skill.

Guided Arrow

Requires: Magic Arrow and Multiple Shot
Duration: Instant
Range: Same as a normal arrow or bolt fired from the same type of weapon with an additional +40' (12.2 m) per level of experience. This range bonus is in addition to any range bonuses provided by weapon proficiencies and magical weapon enhancements.

Description: In the dark jungles of Yin-Sloth, the Amazon Warrior has as much to fear from the environment as from the creatures that inhabit the jungle. No matter what her skill in battle, if an enemy is concealed behind dense trees or bushes, an Amazon has little hope in hitting her opponents. With this combat skill, an Amazon can unleash a far reaching and deadly accurate arrow or bolt that will dodge around obstacles in order to reach its target. Unlike some combat skills that require a melee attack to activate, this skill can be activated at will, but only once for each attack. When activated, the Amazon receives a bonus of +6 to strike at eighth level and an additional +1 to strike per additional level of experience starting at level 9, in addition the target gains no benefits from concealment and the Amazon automatically succeeds on any called shots she makes. If the attack hits the target, the target takes +2 points of damage per level of experience. For example, a tenth level Amazon Warrior would gain a bonus of +8 to strike and would inflict an additional an additional +20 points of damage on a successful hit.

Ice Arrow

Requires: Cold Arrow and Magic Arrow
Duration: Instant
Range: Same as a normal arrow or bolt fired from the same type of weapon with an additional +20' (6.1 m) per level of experience. This range bonus is in addition to any range bonuses provided by weapon proficiencies and magical weapon enhancements.

Description: Through practice and careful worship of the god Karcheus, an Amazon Warrior can improve upon the Cold Arrow to produce an even more powerful arrow that will chill the blood of her enemies. Unlike some combat skills that require a melee attack to activate, this skill can be activated at will, but only once for each attack. When activated, the Amazon receives a bonus of +4 to strike at eighth level and an additional +1 to strike at levels 10, 12, and 14. If the attack hits the target, the target takes 5D6 points of cold damage and an additional +1D6 points of cold damage at levels 10, 12, and 15. This cold damage is in addition to the normal damage caused by the bow or crossbow attack. In addition, the target must make a save vs. spell magic or be partially stunned by the intense cold. If the save is failed, the target receives a penalty of -3 to all combat rolls for a number of melee attacks equal to the Amazon Warrior's level and for the same length of time, all fire damage against the defender inflicts triple damage. Increase the magical cold damage by +6 if Freezing Arrow is also known. For example, a fifteenth level Amazon Warrior with Freezing Arrow would gain a bonus of +7 to strike and would inflict an additional 8D6 points of cold damage on a successful hit.

Immolation Arrow

Requires: Exploding Arrow, Fire Arrow, and Magic Arrow
Duration: Instant
Range: Same as a normal arrow or bolt fired from the same type of weapon with an additional +20' (6.1 m) per level of experience. This range bonus is in addition to any range bonuses provided by weapon proficiencies and magical weapon enhancements.
Area of Effect: 15' (4.6 m) radius from the point of impact

Description: The final gift taught to the champions of Hefaetrus is the powerful Immolation Arrow. These fire arrows burn with such intensity that they very earth surrounding where they land ignites into flame. Unlike some combat skills that require a melee attack to activate, this skill can be activated at will, but only once for each attack. When activated, the Amazon receives a bonus of +6 to strike at eleventh level and an additional +1 to strike at levels 13 and 15. Upon hitting the target, the arrow will burst into flame causing 1D4x10 points of fire damage +2 points of fire damage per level of experience starting at level 12 to the target and 4D6 points of fire damage +1 point of fire damage per level of experience starting at level 12 to all other targets within the area of effect. At the beginning of each of the Amazon Warrior's melee attacks, all targets still within the area of effect take 4D6 points of fire damage +1 point of fire damage per level of experience starting at level 12. For example, a twelfth level Amazon Warrior would gain a bonus of +6 to strike and would inflict an additional 1D4x10+3 points of fire damage to the main target and 4D6+1 points of fire damage to the surrounding area immediately and at the beginning of each of her melee attacks.

Magic Arrow

Duration: Instant
Range: Same as a normal arrow or bolt fired from the same type of weapon with an additional +10' (3 m) per level of experience. This range bonus is in addition to any range bonuses provided by weapon proficiencies and magical weapon enhancements.

Description: Deep in the jungles, far from their homes, Amazon Warriors are expected to survive. Those that choose to specialize in bows and crossbows might be viewed as having a disadvantage: an arrow or a bolt is much more likely to break after each use then a javelin or a spear. With this combat skill, the Amazon can create an arrow or a bolt out of pure magical energy. These arrows and bolts are created one at a time just before they are fired, but unless the Amazon can fire more then one arrow or bolt per melee attack, only one arrow or bolt is created per activation. The arrows and bolts do damage appropriate for their type of weapon with an additional bonus of +1 to strike and damage at levels 5, 10, and 15.

Multiple Shot

Requires: Guided Arrow, Magic Arrow, and Split Shot
Duration: Instant
Range: Same as a normal arrow or bolt fired from the same type of weapon with an additional +20' (6.1 m) per level of experience. This range bonus is in addition to any range bonuses provided by weapon proficiencies and magical weapon enhancements.

Description: While similar to Split Shot, the pinnacle of Amazon bow and crossbow training is to simply fire faster and faster. This combat skill alters how the Amazon exists in time allowing her to load, aim, and fire her bow or crossbow faster then normal. Unlike some combat skills that require a melee attack to activate, this skill can be activated at will, but only once for each attack. When activated, the Amazon can immediately fire an additional three arrow or bolt attacks at level 11 and an additional arrow or bolt attack at each new level of experience starting at level 12. These additional attacks must be with the same weapon as the first attack, but they can be at different targets or the same target and the Amazon can switch between different types of arrows or bolts, such as magical arrows or arrows enchanted with other combat skills. The Amazon makes separate strike and damage rolls for each of these attacks and the targets must defend themselves normally. The only downside to this impressive combat skill is that each arrow or bolt inflicts less damage; reduce the damage inflicted by each arrow or bolt by 25%, to a minimum of 1 point of damage, however, the Amazon gains a bonus to damage of +1 at each new level of experience starting at level 12. For example, a fifteenth level Amazon Warrior could fire 6 additional arrows or bolts with each melee attack, and if she rolled damage indicating 7 points of damage, she would actually inflict 9 (7 x 0.75 = 5.25 -> 5 + 4) points of damage with that attack.

Split Shot

Requires: Magic Arrow
Duration: Instant
Range: Same as a normal arrow or bolt fired from the same type of weapon with an additional +10' (3 m) per level of experience. This range bonus is in addition to any range bonuses provided by weapon proficiencies and magical weapon enhancements.

Description: Through her magical training, an Amazon Warrior gains a mystical understanding of how an arrow flies through the air. By applying magical energy at the moment an arrow or bolt is loosed from a weapon, the Amazon can split the arrow or bolt in many different projectiles that can hit many targets as the Amazon grows in experience. Unlike some combat skills that require a melee attack to activate, this skill can be activated at will, but only once for each attack. When activated, the Amazon chooses a targets for each arrow or bolt that she creates, but no more then one arrow or bolt can be assigned to each target. The Amazon only makes one strike roll and each target must dodge or parry the attack based on that single attack roll. The only downside to this impressive combat skill is that each arrow or bolt inflicts less damage. Reduce the damage inflicted by each arrow by 25%, to a minimum of 1 point of damage and the Amazon only needs to roll for damage once and the same damage is inflicted on all targets hit by her attack. For example, if an Amazon hits six targets with Split Shot and rolls damage indicating 7 points of damage, she actually inflicts 5 (7 x 0.75 = 5.25 -> 5) points of damage to each target.

Spear and Javelin Skills

Charged Strike

Description: Amazons that are truly dedicated to what is known as the Path of Zerae learns this combat skill as a replacement for the Power Strike skill. This combat skill not only deals energy damage to the primary target struck by the javelin or spear, but it causes powerful charges of energy to spread from the primary target to strike nearby enemies. Unlike some combat skills that require a melee attack to activate, this skill can be activated at will, but only once for each attack. When activated, the Amazon receives a bonus of +4 to strike at eighth level and an additional +1 to strike at levels 10, 12, and 14. If the attack hits the target, the primary target of the attack takes an additional 4D6 points of magical energy damage and a bolt of energy will arc from the primary target of the attack to strike a number of random secondary targets. Each secondary target will take 2D6 points of magical energy damage. All secondary targets must be within range of the primary target, but no secondary target can be hit by more then one secondary attack, so even if the combat skill could hit three secondary targets, if there is only one other enemy within range, that enemy will only be hit with one secondary attack. Increase the magical energy damage to the primary target by +6 and to the secondary targets by +3 for each of the following spells known by the Amazon: Lightning Fury and Lightning Strike. For example, a twelfth level Amazon Warrior with Lightning Strike would gain a bonus of +6 to strike and would inflict an additional 4D6+6 points of energy damage to the primary target of the attack and 2D6+3 points of energy damage to up to seven secondary targets on a successful hit.

Fend

Description: This skill combines the power of the Impale skill with the speed of Jab skill to create a powerful series of attacks that will devastate enemies foolish enough to come within range of an Amazon Warrior. At eleventh level of experience, the Amazon can make +4 attacks per melee, but the extra attack must be with a javelin or a spear, and she gains +6 to strike and +11 to damage with a javelin or spear weapon. At each additional level, the Amazon gains +1 to strike and +1 to damage, and at levels 13 and 15, she gains an additional +1 attack per melee that must be used to attack with a spear or javelin. For example, at level 14, an Amazon gains +5 attacks per melee with a javelin or spear, +9 to strike with a javelin or spear, and +14 to damage with a javelin or spear. This skill cannot be combined with Jab, but an Amazon can combine it with the damage and strike bonus provided by the Impale combat skill.

Description: Most Amazon Warriors practice day and night to perfect their aim and precision strikes, but on the battlefield, they are aided by the mystical forces that they can call upon. This combat skill allows an Amazon Warrior to hit stronger and more accurately. Unlike some combat skills that require a melee attack to activate, this skill can be activated at will, but only once for each attack. When activated, the Amazon receives a bonus of +3 to strike at third level and an additional +1 to strike at levels 6, 9, 12, and 15. If the attack hits the target, the attack deals an +1 point of damage per level of experience. For example, a ninth level Amazon Warrior would gain a bonus of +5 to strike and +9 to damage on a successful hit.

Jab

Description: An Amazon requires many skills to survive in the harsh environment of the Yin Sloth Jungle. There are many vicious predators in the jungle and to fight them, an Amazon must reach into mystical reserves. This combat skill, one of the simplest taught to an Amazon that chooses to specialize in the javelin, allows the Amazon to attack faster and more accurately with her weapon of choice. However, without experience, each attack that the Amazon Warrior makes while using this combat skill are not as powerful as if she had attacked normally. At first level of experience, the Amazon can make +1 attack per melee, but the extra attack must be with a javelin or a spear, and she gains +1 to strike with a javelin or spear weapon, but suffers a penalty of -2 to damage to all javelin and spear attacks for the duration of this skill, with a minimum of 1 point of damage. At levels 4, 8, 12, and 15, the Amazon can make an additional +1 attack per melee with a javelin or spear weapon and gains +1 to strike and damage with a javelin or spear weapon. For example, at level 9, an Amazon gains +3 attacks per melee with a javelin or spear, +3 to strike with a javelin or spear, and +1 to damage with a javelin or spear.

Lightning Bolt

Description: If an Amazon Warrior has proven herself worthy, the goddess Zerae will empower her with an enhancement over the Power Strike combat skill. With this combat skill, the Amazon imbues her javelin or spear with mystical energy and then throws it at the target. As soon as the javelin or spear has left the Amazon's hands, it is transformed into a powerful bolt of lightning that will damage everything in its path. The lightning bolt inflicts 3D6 points of energy damage at level 5 and an additional +1D6 points of energy damage at levels 8, 11, and 15. Increase the damage caused by the lightning bolt by +6 and the range by +10' (3 m) for each of the following spells known by the archanist: Charged Strike, Lightning Fury, and Lightning Strike. For example, an eighth level Amazon Warrior with Charged Strike would inflict 4D6+6 points of energy damage to all targets in a line up to 90' (27.4 m) long.

Description: The High Priestess of Zerae will teach select Amazon Warriors the true power of the goddess. By focusing the power of vengeance and destruction, an Amazon Warrior can infuse a javelin or spear with such intense energy that it explodes upon impact, damaging the target struck and causing a number of lightning bolts to streak from that target. While similar to Lightning Strike, Lightning Fury is even more damaging and is combined with a regular javelin or spear attack, so it causes normal weapon damage and can also be combined with the Impale and Fend skills. This skill causes 2D4x10 points of energy damage to the primary target and 1D4x10 points of energy damage to each of the secondary targets. The primary target of the skill must be within range of the skill, but each secondary target must be within range of the skill from the previous target, allowing the skill to reach an amazing distance by hitting ever further targets. The Amazon must choose the primary and secondary targets at the time the skill is used and each secondary target must be different, so the skill cannot loop back and hit a target previously chosen as a secondary target. For example, a fifteenth level Amazon would inflict 2D4x10 points of energy damage to the primary target and 1D4x10 points of energy damage to each of eight secondary targets.

Lightning Strike

Description: Through focused and intense devotion to the goddess Zerae, an Amazon Warrior learns to create a bolt of lightning without requiring the use of a spear or javelin. Instead, a great bolt of lightning streaks from the Amazon and hits its target before branching out and hitting several additional targets. This skill causes 1D4x10 points of energy damage to the primary target and 4D6 points of energy damage to each of the secondary targets. The primary target of the skill must be within range of the skill, but each secondary target must be within range of the skill from the previous target, allowing the skill to reach an amazing distance by hitting ever further targets. The Amazon must choose the primary and secondary targets at the time the skill is used and each secondary target must be different, so the skill cannot loop back and hit a target previously chosen as a secondary target. Increase the damage of the skill to the primary target by +10, the damage to the secondary target by +6, and the range by +20' (3 m) if Lightning Fury is also known. For example, a fifteenth level Amazon with Lightning Fury would inflict 1D4x10+10 points of energy damage to the primary target and 4D6+6 points of energy damage to each of six secondary targets.

Plague Javelin

Description: The Plague Javelin is an updated from of the Poison Javelin. With experience, an Amazon warrior becomes more adept at creating the mystical poisons used with this combat skill and with the help of this skill, she gains the ability to combine several poisons into the same attack. This combat skill allows the Amazon to recreate two powerful toxins on her javelin or spear just moments before it pierces her enemies. Unlike some combat skills that require a melee attack to activate, this skill can be activated at will, but only once for each attack. When activated, the Amazon receives a bonus of +4 to strike at eighth level and an additional +1 to strike at levels 10, 12, and 14. If the attack hits the target, the target must make a save vs. lethal poison with a penalty of -3 at eighth level and an additional penalty of -1 at levels 11, 13, and and 15 for each poison selected by the Amazon. The Amazon can select a poison that inflicts 4D6 points immediately and 2d6 points at the beginning of each melee round that the target remains poisoned. The Amazon can select a poison that will make the target lose 1 attack per melee and take a penalty of -3 to all combat rolls while they remain poisoned. The Amazon can select a poison that will cause the target to lose 2D6 PPE and ISP immediately and 1D6 PPE and ISP at the beginning of each melee round that the target remains poisoned.

Poison Javelin

Description: In the jungles that that Amazon Warriors call home, there are many deadly plants and Amazons are trained to spot these plants and to study them. With this mystical skill, the Amazon can recreate one of those powerful toxins on the point of the spear or javelin to poison the target of the attack. Unlike some combat skills that require a melee attack to activate, this skill can be activated at will, but only once for each attack. When activated, the Amazon receives a bonus of +1 to strike at first level and an additional +1 to strike at levels 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15. If the attack hits the target, the target must make a save vs. lethal poison with a penalty of -1 at levels 4, 8, 12, and 15 of the Amazon Warrior. If the target makes the save, they are not poisoned, but if the save is failed, the target immediately takes 1D6 points of damage from the poison and an additional 1D6 points of damage at the beginning of each melee round that they remained poisoned. Increase the damage from the poison by +6 if the Amazon Warrior also knows Plague Javelin. For example, a sixth level Amazon Warrior without Plague Javelin would gain a bonus of +3 to strike, the poison would last for 6 melee rounds, and the target would suffer a -1 penalty to the save vs. lethal poison.

Power Strike

Many of the gods in the pantheon that the Amazons worship have control over a particular type of natural disaster, but none is worshiped more then Zerae, the goddess of vengeance and storms. Channelling her energy, an Amazon Warrior can imbue her javelin or spear with the energy of a lightning bolt. Unlike some combat skills that require a melee attack to activate, this skill can be activated at will, but only once for each attack. When activated, the Amazon receives a bonus of +1 to strike at first level and an additional +1 to strike at levels 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15. If the attack hits the target, the attack deals an additional +1D4 points of magical energy damage at first level and at levels 5, 10, and 15. Increase the magical energy damage by +2 for each of the following spells known by the Amazon: Charged Strike, Lightning Bolt, Lightning Fury, and Lightning Strike. For example, a sixth level Amazon Warrior with Lightning Bolt would gain a bonus of +3 to strike and would inflict an additional 2D4+4 points of energy damage with Power Strike on a successful hit.
