unhappy anniversary

spring cleaning always digs up the ugly stuff

it's been three years and three days since the courts of iowa presumed to break what nature had seen fit to make and take away all my legal rights to beautiful angelica. is june 5th a day that will live in infamy? hardly. the injustice of that day doesn't amount to a hill of beans compared to the atrocities taking place every day in all those parts of the world where greed is more important than love. and yet it's still part of that same old story. they say that living well is the best revenge...but i'm not interested in revenge. i just want to hear my little girl say "papa?".

perhaps i ought to burn all the legal doc's from that particularly kafka-esque period of my life. it's not like i ever want to read them again. it's not like they entitle me to anything. it's not like they are worth the paper the innocent trees at the deathly silent tree farm gave their lives to be printed on. aahhh. perhaps i will recycle them!

two and a half years old

this one is from the back door of the upstairs downstairs arrangement we had in sherman hill winter through summer in 1988. this was angelica's third apartment and she used to come out and stand under the steps...was there a cat nearby that she liked to play with?...very gentle she was, i remember that, whether the cat was here or someplace else...the car is the little subuaru i bought for star from the ex-husband of the super hot catholic actress who lived around the corner from the duplex we had lived in a few months earlier. that's another story, tho. when we left for oakland i gave the car to marjorie's husband curtis...that's another story too.



i had the upstairs apartment and i remember reading lord of the rings there, having a crush on aimee over at the brew pub, and watching angelica grow tons...total walker at this place, except when she was tired of course, and a talker too, of course. with star and i for parents how else could she turn out?

just down the street from a dong, our totally fave restaurant, too. ahhh. that was a good summer.

hiding

it's all a trick of the eyes

there was a time when angelica played this game where if she averted her eyes, like she couldn't see you except out of the wee corner of one eye, then she was invisible, just like she was hiding around the corner and just barely peeking out...



if you played along and said out loud 'i wonder where angelica is...has anyone seen angelica around? huh...i wonder where that angelica supernova jellybean could be..." she would suddenly spring to life as if she was jumping out from behind a tree and go 'rrraaoouurrr' and then laugh and laugh and laugh...of course you would have to act startled and exclaim aloud 'oh, you scared me...where were you?"

i wonder if she still plays that game...

btw...notice how perfect her tiny little feet are?
