GRANTWOOD TECHNOLOGY, LLC. SHIPS SPONGEPACS v1.0
New
SpongePACS database application simplifies the handling of
outside DICOM CDs and other digital medical images.
Cleveland,
OH, February 20, 2006 - Grantwood Technology, LLC,
developers of medical databases, today announced the
initial release of SpongePACS® 1.0, shipping Feb 20, 2006.
Grantwood Technology, LLC, today also announced SpongePACS
is compatible with the FileMaker 8 product line and will
also be available as a single-user version.
Now for the first time, medical offices can handle the
diagnostic image CDs that are received from outside
facilities. As most offices have begun to realize, the use
of these DICOM CDs is becoming more prevalent. Even though
the images can be viewed, the ability to manage the images
and CDs is difficult at best. We have designed a system
that will work with any practice, large or small, to handle
digital images that are brought into the office. No more
storage rooms, searching for CDs or attempts to manually
manage files and folders. We have developed a
FileMaker-based solution to import the images and store
them in a logical manner in a digital archive. Other images
can be 'soaked' or imported into the system, including,
jpg, png, tif, bmp, pdf, mpg, and mov files. Therefore,
digital camera photos, scanned images, and other image
types can also be stored for the patient.
"SpongePACS gives medical offices, FileMaker® Pro
consultants and developers the tools they need for
efficient handling of these medical image CDs and other
medical image media," explained Michael Banks, MD,
co-founder and CEO of Grantwood Technology, LLC.
"SpongePACS is a leap forward in our quest to make medical
image data accessible. We have greatly reduced the handling
of all the image files we want to save in a patient's
record. SpongePACS' ability to import or soak up images for
a patient's record makes SpongePACS a compelling component
of any digital image database solution."
SpongePACS,
Image Handling Made Simpler
SpongePACS centralizes the images from an unlimited number
of sources, including outside DICOM CDs, digital media,
internal files and folders. Now, medical offices can have
an electronic image database that can be easily searched,
allowing providers to quickly find and view the images
regarding a patient. To address any HIPAA concerns,
SpongePACS features a user database with passwords, as well
as a detailed audit log that tracks any changes to the
database, including attempts to view patient images.
SpongePACS uses OsiriX as the DICOM viewer of
choice on the Mac. If there are other image or document
types that are in the image summary for the patient, the
default application is utilized to view the file.
"SpongePACS has been recognized as a unique tool for
medical offices trying to handle the variety of medical
media, images and formats," continued Banks. "Now is the
time for SpongePACS to help smooth the transition from film
to digital medical images."
