History
Sean Mills, Michael Banks, and Mark Panigutti
were the founders of Grantwood Technology, LLC and
co-developers of ChartPACS and SpongePACS. Beginning in
1999, the implementation of the core technology began. By
2005. Grantwood Technology, LLC was founded as a database
consulting and development company, supporting a number of
clients with electronic medical records (EMR) and those
desiring custom database development. Realizing the need to
expand ChartPACS reach and marketplace, Matt McDonnell was
brought in as a business leader and marketing expert to
move Grantwood Technology, LLC forward with a dedicated
focus and expanded team.
ChartPACS was developed due to an overwhelming need for
small and medium sized medical offices to convert paper
charts to a digital format. Typically, EMR and medical
office databases require complex administration and high
end servers, and expensive scanners to bring outside
documents into the system. ChartPACS brings robust EMR
features to the small to medium size office without the
need for scanners. Scanners in general are costly,
technical, labor intensive, and not designed for regular
medical office staff. ChartPACS was developed as a solution
to this common scenario. The evolution of ChartPACS began
in 1999 to its robust, practical application today.
ChartPACS is a HIPAA compatible, secure, database with
users and audit trail logging. ChartPACS has an integrated
message system, for all the users so no more paper notes or
lost messages occur, if the message is regarding a patient,
the photo of the patient is also in the message. ChartPACS
has a prescription database that can print, fax, or track
written or called in medical and non-medical prescriptions.
ChartPACS as a letter template module that can easily make
school excuses, work excuses or just about any style of
letter that is needed. ChartPACS has an integrated chart
with past history and the entire paper chart that is
converted to digital format.
SpongePACS was developed in 2006 due to new, common problem
for medical offices as we have begun to see a
transformation to digital imaging. More and more, patients
are receiving their medical diagnostic imaging on CD
instead of film. This requires the office to have viewers
and computers available to view the images. The problem
arises with storage, as CD storage is even more complex
than film storage and it certainly does not make sense to
physically store digital CDs or to manually manage the
files and folders. SpongePACS is a Filemaker based,
database solution that will "soak" up images from DICOM CDs
or from folders that contain images that you wish to store
for a patient. Furthermore, it complies with HIPAA with a
password protected user database, with an audit trail, to
provide security for the images and patient
data.
