| The collection comprises a scrapbook (Albums 1 & 2) containing letters and other documents, a sketchbook (Album 3) and nine Confederate Currency bills (Album 4). Additional items include an introduction by John Flatley, tributes to Helen Jemison Plane, and further links of interest. | The four individual low-resolution albums (in both HTML and PDF versions) provide an overview of the documents (see details below). High-resolution photographic images of all items, indexed on separate pages and accessible from the top menu are available in a separate folder, named HiResImages. |
PDF files may be viewed or downloaded individually; however, transcriptions of the letters are also available in a single (large!) PDF document. All PDF documents are listed under Additional in the top menu. All PDF files are provided in a separate folder in this web site (named pdfs). |

See notes below on the naming scheme, the

Notes |
| A note on the naming scheme: |
The naming scheme for the scrapbook and letters image files consists of a unique 'scrapbook page number' (00 through 95), followed by a letter (a, b, c, etc) to designate each page of letter(s) contained in an envelope on that scrapbook page. For example, the file named 47aDSC_2221.jpg is the first page of the first letter enclosed in an envelope on page 47 of the scrapbook; the file named 47bDSC_2222.jpg is the second page of that letter. The first page of a subsequent letter (which appears on that same scrapbook page) continues the sequence with, e.g. 47cDSC_2223.jpg. The original camera image numbers are retained throughout, as they provide a useful 'failsafe' identifier of the sequence in which the photos were taken. top
|
| A note on the construction and layout of the original scrapbook: |
Some scrapbook pages have multiple envelopes affixed to them; some envelopes are empty, some have more than one letter inside them. The list of documents on this web site does not present all letters chronologically. The order of documents represents a 'snapshot' of its state as of this writing (August 2005). top
|
| A note on the Confederate Currency: |
| The confederate currency bills are grouped in threes, with one page showing the front of three bills, the next page showing the backs of those bills. There are 9 bills in all, depicted on 6 pages. top |
