Hearing aids are dispensed at Fauquier ENT and range in price from $800 to over $3000 depending on the circuitry. All the hearing aids we dispense are 100% state-of-the-art digital and manufactured by the best companies in the business (Widex, Phonak, Oticon, etc). The principal reason for price differences among the different hearing aids we sell is the digital circuit within the hearing aid. The style/size of the hearing aid (BTE, ITE, ITC, CIC, etc) does NOT influence the price we charge unlike most other hearing aid dispensaries that charge more for a smaller hearing aid. Additional hearing aid options such as wireless or bluetooth communication with your cell phone or MP3 music player, remote control, inter-aid device communication to optimize hearing, etc add to the cost as well. How do we help you select the right hearing aid for you?

  1. Hearing Test
  2. If necessary, a physician visit to ensure medical clearance for hearing aids
  3. A personalized appointment to discuss the various options of hearing aids available
  4. Creation of a custom ear mold of your ear
  5. Selection of the style/size of the hearing aid (BTE, ITE, ITC, CIC, etc) and internal circuitry from one of the various manufacturers. Other miscellaneous features may be picked as well (wireless, bluetooth, remote control, etc).
  6. Ordering of the hearing aid (takes about 10 business days)
  7. Fitting of the hearing aid to provide the best hearing amplification for your specific hearing loss based on your hearing test

There is a 45 day trial period to test out hearing aids to see if they work for you. We also provide hearing aid repairs as well as replacement batteries.

Why Hearing Aids May NOT Completely Restore Hearing

There are some reasons why hearing aids may not completely restore hearing that patients should be aware of. The most important one is that human hearing is based on volume and reception. The best analogy is to imagine your hearing to be a radio. A given radio has a volume knob that one can adjust up or down as well as antenna reception which allows one to get a clear signal vs one full of static. If there has been damage to the radio's antenna, it does not matter how much you increase the volume...the signal will still be full of static.

Similarly, hearing loss may be a volume issue and/or a reception issue. Hearing aids can only amplify volume. Hearing aids CANNOT improve reception. The hearing test we perform gives us an idea of both volume and reception aspects of your hearing loss and provide guidance in how much hearing aids may help.
