ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH
opponents low.
I'm beginning to think the Colorado Rockies will
never lose again. And I don't mean just this season. I mean
ever.
Oh, sure. They could finish off
the sweep of the Diamondbacks, lose that glass slipper and more than a little
momentum while they're waiting for a long ALCS to end, and then watch a far more
talented and experienced team like the Red Sox strike midnight on their
Cinderella month. But I don't think that's gonna
happen.
What's gonna happen, I think, is
what I saw in a SportsCenter-induced vision just before 7 o'clock this morning:
the Rockies will finish off the Diamondbacks tonight, sweep the Indians in the
World Series, then come back next season and go 162-0. They will not lose again
until sometime in mid-2009, just a few short days after a despondent George
Steinbrenner shoots Joe Torre, runs over Alex Rodriguez with his car, and then
leaps to his death from high atop the Brooklyn
Bridge.
I'm not sure which development
will be better for Major League Baseball. But either way, you heard it here
first.
