Here's one for everyone who complained that I
shouldn't have chosen Keira Knightley as this year's Official Muse of TWM
because she happens to be thin and, therefore apparently, not a good role model
for young women:
Actress Keira Knightley has balked at having the digital wizards enhance her breasts in publicity photos for her new film, "Duchess." The sultry star of "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Atonement" feels she doesn't need cleavage to be sexy and insists on being portrayed as the A-cup beauty that she is rather than being air-brushed into a more voluptuous C-cup. "Keira Knightley is essentially giving young women permission to stand up ... and say, 'Look, this is the way I look and it is OK," said "Perfect Girls, Starving Daughters" author Courtney Martin. ![]() Unlike far too many celebrities, whose weight went south and breasts went north soon after they went west to Hollywood, Keira's post-stardom figure is exactly the same as her pre-stardom figure. She's apparently always been comfortable with it, and now she's comfortable enough with both her accomplishments and her professional power to stand up to studio executives and marketing flaks who aren't. I'd say that's about as good of a role model for young women as you're likely to find in Hollywood. Or anywhere else. Posted: Wed - July 30, 2008 at 09:23 AM |
