IT'S ALL ABOUT THE GIFTS


and for them, i thank you, sir.

There is much to be said for spending a nice, quiet Christmas day at home with your family, for getting up early and staying up late and filling the hours in between with presents and cookies and games and movies and plenty of each other, but mostly there is this: on a day that is supposed to be all about the Gift your God gave to your soul, there is no better way to know and to feel and to honor it than to bask in the warmth and beauty of the ones He gave to your life, and to thank Him for them.

What I have begun today -- and what, in truth, I try to do every day -- I will continue tomorrow, in earnest in the east, and then for one more day after that. I'll be back on Friday, in thought and word and deed, with still more thanks and those same, lovely feelings of faith. Until then...
