DOG BITES MANman explodes.

hours before this week's edition of Notes From a Friday Afternoon, and I know that
I'll be reading a hell of a lot of headlines between now and then, and yet I am
filled with the absolute certainty of a thousand George W. Bushes that I have
already found, hiding among the linguistic detritus that is CNN's list of
Latest News
links, this week's -- and perhaps this month's
-- TWM Headline of the
Week:
Truck filled with dynamite explodes. I, for one, am gobsmacked. Who could possibly have imagined that a truck carrying 25 tons of dynamite -- on the roads of northern Mexico, no less -- would explode? Sounds like a safe and sensible form of transport, don't you think? The only part of the story that seems to me worthy of attention -- besides, of course, the deaths of three reporters; we know how the media love to mourn their own -- was the revelation that a vehicle blew up somewhere in the world besides Iraq. I guess this is just one more piece of evidence that the surge is working. Or that CNN's reporters aren't. Posted: Mon - September 10, 2007 at 11:07 AM |
