Malungen Gjestegård is an scenic, old Norwegian farmstead
located next to a small lake in the Hedmark county
countryside. This is where the ceremony and reception will
be held Saturday evening, June 24th. Malungen has rooms in
three different buildings (46 beds total), all of which
have shared bathrooms and showers. For the more
adventurous/economical minded, there is an area on the
grounds for tents as well.
We encourage our guests who intend to stay at Malungen on
Saturday evening to contact Malungen to make their
reservation. Please mention that you are with the
Syverinsen/Whelan wedding.
Trine and Chad will be staying at Malungen Saturday night
and at Ola and Lise Syverinsen's house in Ilseng (near
Hamar) the other evenings. One possible plan for guests
would be to stay at Malungen Saturday evening and in Hamar
the evenings before and after. For those who prefer to
return to Hamar Saturday evening, but do not want to drive,
there will be transportation provided to take people to and
from Malungen.
For those who want to book a room in Hamar, there are
several hotels to choose from, most of which include
breakfast. In Norway, when they say breakfast is included,
they mean a real breakfast, not the "continental" breakfast
we have become used to in the U.S.. It will include lots of
bread, ham, liver pate, cheese, hard-boiled egg and cereal.
