Velo-City
talks available on CD
The proceedings from the
Velo-City
2001 conference,
held in Edinburgh and Glasgow, are available on
a CD. For £10 you get the full papers from
the 234 speakers at the conference plus
transcriptions of the plenary sessions. Most of
the talks were campaign-focussed but some were
bike-trade oriented, including seminars on
helmet use, design of utility bikes and the
future for the bike market Cycle specialists
from forty countries presented at the Velo-City
conference. Plenary papers included a keynote
address on Children, Mobility and Health by
Margot Wallstrom, European Union Commissioner
for the Environment. There were also
presentations by the transport ministers of
South Africa, Belgium, Scotland and the
UK.
The contributions made
by the six Scottish schools taking part in the
Velo-City Outreach Programme are also included
on the CD. The conference covered five main
themes: sustainable transport and planning;
children and mobility; environment and land use;
tourism and economy; and health and well
being.
