Craigmillarcycles is an idea and a list of possibilities

Cycling is good for health (mental and physical). Most people have cycled at some time in their lives - and usually enjoyed it. Most children have bikes. Sometimes they are not used because of something as simple as a puncture. Children get bigger, bikes stay the same size and often no longer fit properly.

Cycling isn't the 'answer to everything', but it is a cheap and fairly easy form of transport for most people.

Cycling is practical - often the quickest way between two places - and FUN.

Craigmillar is fairly flat, it has low car ownership, it has the Innocent Cycle Path running though it. It will also see much demolition and new building over the next 15 years. There are plans for new schools and cycle routes in the immediate area and also for paths to the new Midlothian community of Shawfair. Better links with East Lothian (where Queen Margaret University College is currently being built) are expected.

Craigmillarcycles isn't a new 'organisation' it's an attempt to bring existing Cycling organisations (such as those involved in Try Cycling In Edinburgh) together with individuals and organisations in Craigmillar to get 'more people cycling, more often'. So far things look most encouraging with many people enthusiastic about the idea.

This site will record some of the things that are happening and list some of the possibilities - for instance Workshop in a Cupboard.
