In particular, the recent formed Children and Families Department is actively looking at ways of encouraging cycling in the east of Edinburgh - (roughly from Restalrig to Craigmillar) which could include new bike sheds and more outdoor activities. City Development is planning a network of paths in the 'South East Wedge' area.

Edinburgh Road Club - individual members have offered to take anyone interested in racing along to the Club.
Forth Sector - "assist others to develop their own social enterprise initiatives". Currently based in Peffermill moving to former Craigmillar Primary School when it is finished. Some staff cycle to work and are involved in existing Edinburgh bicycle projects.
Greenspace Scotland - "Transforming urban spaces into people places".
Hunters Hall Housing Co-operative (Niddrie House area) informal 'bike club' developing.
NHS - various possibilities including doctors 'prescribing' bikes and Cycle Training. NHS is also behind the new Bridge End community allotment project - it's easy to get there by bike.
PARC (Promoting and Regenerating Craigmillar) Council owned development company.
Police - especially community police officers. How about some beat officers on bikes? Common in Strathclyde and many parts of the world.
Queen Margaret University College - moving to Newcraighall. Want to encourage staff and students to travel to the new campus by 'sustainable' means.
Real Craigmillar dotCom - local web site. Useful source of information and (controversial!) comment.
Schools - pupils, teachers, active school co-ordinators etc. Castleview and Lismore are involved in a mapping project looking at places to walk and cycle. Castlebrae pupils have taken part in a 'build a bike' scheme run by The Bike Station and Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme.
