About the animations

The animation speed will vary on different platforms; the current setting is about minimal for my system to actually "look" like they're moving and not just a sequence of still frames, but may be too fast on other computers.

[Before I tell you how to modify my images, please note that any text or image posted to a web site is considered copyrighted by the author.]

Mac users can get either of a couple of great shareware programs. The one I have is GraphicConverter ($35 fee when you decide to keep it), which will let you reset the delay times for the movie frames or extract individual images, as well as open and save about 90 different image formats and allow basic MacPaint-type editing (it doesn't do color gradients...), as well as allow you to reduce the number of colors in a GIF (to make a smaller file). Also supports transparency. I have also heard good things about GIFConverter, although I don't think it supports bit-by-bit image editing. But it is apparently AppleScript-able. ($30 registration fee.)

Those of you on a platform starting with "M$-W" can use what used to be a freeware program by Microsoft (but is now apparently 'included free with purchase of Image Composer') to extract the frames of the movie into individual images. I believe it will also let you reset the delay time between frames. The freeware version may still be available here (though they require you to register your name, email, etc with their company), or trying searching on "Microsoft GIF Animator".
