Learn the hidden
problems with New Mexico's new touchscreen voting system, make
suggestions, and help organize to get NM a good voting system that will
last the
next 30 years.
Important: If you or a friend of yours experienced
any difficulties related to
electronic voting system please write it
down as a signed affidavit and send it to us. We need
to collect actual voter testimonies on this topic. Even simple things
like long lines, confusing instructions, difficulty pressing
choices, lack of supervision by poll workers or observation of
machines out of service are important to make note.
Verified Voting New Mexico (VerifiedVotingNM) is a coalition of
citizens and organizations that is urging election officials across New
Mexico to stop buying electronic voting machines that do not provide a
voter-verified paper trail, that cannot be shown to be recording votes
correctly during elections, and that provide no possibility for an
independent recount after the polls close.
Across the country, civil society groups are waking up to the threat
to our democracy posed by hastily purchased voting machines constructed
without regard to transparency or accountability. Verified Voting New
Mexico is working to raise these issues both locally and statewide and
to halt the premature purchase of these machines.
