There is a
great deal of concern and apprehension regarding the modification of
agricultural products by gene transplantation, particularly in
Europe. Alarmist propaganda has led people to believe they are
unsafe. In fact , there is absolutely no scientific evidence for this
and the reason given is simply "precaution." One of Man's greatest
achievements is in danger of being lost, namely the new technologies
to feed the world!
Dr. Norman
Borlaug discusses this in the article
published in the Wall Street Journal for Sept. 6, 2000. Dr. Borlaug
won the Noble Prize in 1970 for his accomplishments in
agriculture.
The United
Nations is also concerned in the subject of gene transplantation to
improve crop production and quality, and the following
article in the American Association for the United Nation's
journal attests to this. It is highly illuminating.
