Definition
A Subject Sampler presents a small number
of sites organized around a specific topic that offer something interesting
to do, read, or see. A subject Sampler helps students connect affectively
to topic because they are asked to respond from a personal perspective.
Right and wrong answers are not the focus, but rather students are invited
to join the community of learners surrounding the topic. Subject Samplers
communicate to students that their views are valued.

students to the concept of Multiple Intelligences. The first site
defines the different intelligences, gives characteristics, and
suggests activities to explore the various intelligences. In addition
to text, the site uses graphics and animated graphics to illustrate
the intelligences. The second activity contains links to two different
inventories designed to determine which intelligences are dominant.
The student is asked to respond to a series of questions, and then
they are given a profile of their intelligences.
